2008 Corvette Coupe

Well before the El Camino was sold, I began looking at C6 Corvettes to try to determine the value and get a solid understanding of the current market. Per usual, the prices started falling going into fall. I felt it a pretty good time to jump on one, especially with the money from the El Camino sale burning a hole in my pocket. I drove a nearly new 2006 convertible, an extremely tired 2007 with only 40k miles on it and then the one that I purchased yesterday. It was nice to know what a “good one” and a “bad one” felt like while making a purchasing decision. The car I found was at a Chevy dealership east of Buffalo, NY. I was hoping that it looked as good as it did in the pics online, and was pleasantly surprised that it was actually better than the pics. I found a car that someone really loved and cared for. At 35,500 miles it still drives and feels like a new car. There are a few very difficult to see paint blemishes near the hatch area, but I think you’d struggle to find one this nice for a car that’s 16 years old. The goal with this car is to maintain it and drive it. I see no performance upgrades in its future. I’ll get more pics up soon, but for now here’s the pic of me at the dealership.

No sir….. paddle shift if you choose to use it. 6 speed automatic. I would’ve purchased a stick shift if the deal was correct, but I an automatic was preferred.

I filled the tank the other day. I was able to get
22.5 mpg on my first tankful, which was mostly freeway driving. Also to be noted is the fact that premium fuel is recommended. Here are a couple more pics before winter sets in.

Looks like Dragway 42 is open for TNT on Saturday. You should bring this. I'll bring my Mustang. Andy has car racing options also... Dave might be done for the year, but has lots of stuff that's ready for the 1/4 at a moments notice.

Without too much to do on the C6, I figured I’d give a small update. I’ve reached out to the
local speed shop to get on their work list to get the harmonic dampener change done. At the
same time I’m going to have the shifter cable grommets changed and the electronic park
pawl solenoid bypassed. These are three of the four major issues with an LS powered, auto trans
C-6. ( The 4th major issue is a fuel sending unit issue causing a heavy fuel smell. It requires the
trans to come out of the car. ) I’m hoping to be on the repair slate sometime in spring, but I can
wait til they’re ready for me, as none of these issues are a failure currently.

I did receive a fitted car cover as a Christmas gift - It has been installed.

38,040 ….. I did this project about a week ago but have been a bit lazy about posting it. It really wasn’t a hard project, but one that needed to be done. Before I got the car, the dealer had new brakes and tires installed on it. They used uncoated rear rotors, so they were all rusty. I painted them to give it a cleaner look. The good news is that the brake disassembly was pretty easy with no special tools required. The whole project took a couple of hours. I let the paint dry over a full day so the wheels won’t get bonded to the rotors by the paint. The color match wasn’t 100%, but because the fronts and rears are so far apart, you can’t tell….. and a bit of brake dust will help the cause out as well. I have driven it between the raindrops, but weather is getting better, so that will change. This is a super comfortable and enjoyable car to drive! Also to note is how CLEAN this car is… the first couple of pics show the frame and suspension components…. There’s minimal dirt under this car… the frame still shines like new!
