I always enjoy reading Jacin's posts. He's the only guy I know who can put
a used tricycle he found in the neighbor's trash in his lathe and turn it into
a crankshaft!

GM Johnny - Not sure about that, but I'll give it a try!! :-) Did I ever tell about the time I made a key from a piece of round bar stock? Took the lock to several "Locksmith's" no one could help. They should really change their names to Key Copiers - because none in the area could help me - so I did what I had to....in the end I have a key that worked! :-)

So in continuing with Project Under Pressure and embracing my Cheap Bastage roots I found myself needing to salvage this blower hub. Not sure exactly where I got it - it appeared gently used, but further inspection revealed several issues. First it had an oversized pilot which was easily remedied, Next I noticed that the face that mated against the crank gear was running out .015 or .020 thou - what the hell? So I trued that up. Next it had been drilled for helicoils - I know those are strong - I just didn't want those so I opted to redrill the hole pattern. It's start in' to look useable again!

OK, I never took Shop in High School (Cathedral Latin),
but this looks to me like a Seniors Shop Class assignment.
Pretty damn cool.

Fred32v, I never took shop in high school either. I did take shop in Jr. High - Mr Gordos for Woodshop and Mr. Barry for metal shop .Willowick Jr High - those were the days! Mr. Barry came across as a hard ass, but if he saw that you genuinely tried hard he did everything to encourage you. I got him to write me a pass to get out of study hall and have free run of the metal shop - no waiting to use equipment!!!! Good times - didn't know how lucky I was.
