In the mean time, I found a good deal on a used MS2 3.57 box. This is essentially the same thing I use in the Chevelle. I bought a 12' wiring harness / wire bundle that has the Megasquirt adapter on one end, and just bare wire on the end. I'm cutting/splicing/soldering connectors as needed. It's a complete standalone harness that once it passes proof of concept will get transferred over to the racecar.
Today, I drilled a 2" hole in the passenger floor board. I fed the wire bundle down through the hole and up into the engine compartment and started laying out the wires where I want them to go. I got the injector harness done, the main ground, the tach signal from the Saturn ignition-control-module. I was able to temporarily jump power to it, I cranked the engine over and the Megasquirt registered cranking RPM. Woo hoo! That's an important hurdle crossed.
Despite having the car for a year, and having it up on the lift before, I never noticed the two (!!) holes in the transmission. Andy had told me there was a clutch or driveline issue that might need attention before trying to drive this on the street, but didn't think it was this bad..
