After we talked, I went back and crawled underneath every corner. This thing is super clean - I had to buy it. It has been banged and dented a few times, but without any salt, it has no rust. I used the 110V service this morning as it was about 12 degrees. The thing isn't just northern equipped, it ...

I have no hot rodding plans for this thing and I doubt that the tires will ever smoke, but here it is, a 2001 Chevy G3500 cargo van with 28,000 miles. I had to consult with GMJohnny before writing a check for one of these odd GM products (what's a 350 chevy???) http://www.knapp.rinestock.com/van.jpg

I am not that intimidating in person, or were you talking about the dude in the middle?

I just saw this show for the first time last week while on a business trip. It is kind of fun. Seems like there should be a drinking game in it.

The last time I drove a vega, the driver's door swung open while making a right turn. Was that a standard feature?

Just did 2000 miles through AK and Yukon in my Subaru. $5 a gallon in Tok, AK. $6.80 in Dawson City. When I could keep the car moving between 45 and 85 (cruise control is of limited use), 28 mpg! Slower sections, about 26. I have been getting 24 with kayaks on the roof. I guess I had good timing get...

This one seems right up my alley. It is just stupid enough to intrigue me. I can't wait to hear it. Stay safe, these old things have a habit of coming apart in funny ways under all that torque.

I used to get 8 mpg on the street in my aerodynamic 73 mustang. I bet that truck can really suck it down. But it is hard to care when you feel that big push in the back. Enjoy!

It is really just a matter of perspective. I start my new job with Chevron in a couple weeks. Suddenly high gas prices and high oil company profits are a good thing - for my bonus. So smile and think of me as you pump that gas.

Turbo Subaru

I would put this under projects, but I don’t have any plans. My Rover is gone. As Walt would say, it didn’t have enough pedals. Since I’m still roving AK, I guess I can keep my username.

That was much of the joy of drag racing for me. The game really starts before you even fire up the engine, but it really gets critical during the burnout. Everything had to be a routine and nothing screwed me up more than something unexpected during the routine. A couple of things that I remember: -...

Matt, I agree with Dave's advice. The more lens you get (optical zoom) the more versatile the camera. There is a lot of hype about megapixels and most of it is garbage. 4 mp is plenty for some pretty big prints (I print to 13"X19" with a 5 mp) and even 2 mp is plenty for display on a compu...

Sorry it took me awhile to get this off camera through computer onto host and posted here. I actually had to drive about 10 minutes up the road to get a picture like this so this isn't quite what things look like at my new home  Its a good thing I put the studs on. They really do plow only when...

I'm sitting here in Alaska looking at pictures from North Carolina of my old race engine. This internet thing really shrinks the world. I can't wait to hear it. Cool truck!
