Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

While I haven't crawled under the car yet to identify the source of the diff leak, I have started the research to familiarize myself with the area. I stumbled upon this diagram which I found fascinating.

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

???? Miles The digital display went blank again, so I don't know the actual miles on the odometer. I guess it's time to increase the priority of this item on the todo list. I backed Silvia out of the garage yesterday to apply protectant to the rag top. What a huge transformation!! The top looks grea...

Re: 2019 Dodge Charger

Andy, in your photo, I see, on your workbench next to the ladder, two yellow gallon containers on their side. It's an unusual position for these containers, especially on a workbench. What's up with this?

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

103.708 miles Silvia is treating me well these days. I used Meguiars convertible top cleaner and it did an outstanding job of bringing the top back to like-new appearance. Rinsing it off using a heavy stream of water proved that the top now can keep me relatively dry in the rain. I saw only a couple...

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

103.626 miles I have finished reattaching all the edge bindings on the roof where the stitching had come apart. My first thought was to stitch them myself, but after I used the 3M Window Weld urethane to reattach the back window and I saw how strong the bond was, I decided to try it instead. So far ...

Re: NASCAR going to LeMans!

Super interesting! I don't normally follow the LeMans racing, but I will this one in June.

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

103,611 miles Two things. The convertible back window reattachment came out quite well. It looks like a solid installation and should keep the water out. I believe it's the original 25 year old roof and this will keep it going for a few more years. I still have a few details to finish, but I'm pleas...

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

Since the LT4 is running like it should, I'm branching out to other things that need my attention. The back window fell out last Spring when I was on my way to the tuner guy and fixing it has been a priority. But, since the car was not running, it didn't matter. Now I want to go out and enjoy the wa...

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

Follow up from today's test drive: With the fp set at 50psi she runs without bogging or hesitation. She likes the higher fuel pressure. She also starts reliably when warmed up. I'm going to drive it more to see how it acts over time.

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

Put away the party hats, boys. Silvia is back to her evil ways again. Don't ask. I don't understand what's going on (yet). This morning it took several tries to get her started. Then she stumbled around for a little while before settling down to a normal idle. Then I blipped the throttle a few times...

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

I've discovered another interesting problem. The fall leaves are being scooped up and sucked against the the AC condenser. Each time I went out today, I had to pull the leaves out of the front of the condenser. I'm glad I noticed it so at least I can clean them out every time I go out. I'll have to ...

Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!!

WOW!! The new MAF did the trick. On the first test run, I had the fuel pressure set at 43psi and I could feel that the drivability had improved substantially. Just for the fun of it, I bumped it up to 45psi and went out again. Another Wow! It finally feels just like it should. What fun!! I gave that...

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

I decided to explore the Oetiker bands securing the MAF sensor. I was able to use a screwdriver to open up the ears enough to undo the oem bands. They came off easily and without much damage so I believe they can be reused. When I get the tool on Monday I'm hoping I can reform the ears to tighten th...

Re: 1996 Collector Edition Corvette

The new Mass Airflow Sensor arrived Thursday evening. MAF.JPG I discovered a problem right away. The MAF is affixed to the throttle body ducting with semi-permanent Oetiker bands. MAF clamps.JPG These are 1/4" wide and about 3.75 inches in diameter. It took a lot of searching but I finally foun...
