laptop ODB-II scanning/logging

Post by TireSmoker »

I was browsing around Amazon, and I found this:

http://www.amazon.com/Crescent-OBD2-Mul ... sbs_auto_2

It seems to be a generic OBD-II to USB interface, along with some included free software that will give you a good look at basic diagnostic info in your car's omputer. It's OBD-II, so it should work on almost any '96-up vehicle. I guess once you have this piece of hardware, there's a variety of software, both free and paid, that will provide all sorts of info. HPTuners would probably be considered a high-end piece of this software.

There's even one that communicates wirelessly over Bluetooth: http://www.amazon.com/Crescent-Bluetoot ... 419&sr=1-2

Here's something I found suggested in one of the amazon reviews that looks like it might be decent: http://www.palmerperformance.com/produc ... /index.php

Anyway, it's all pretty universal stuff that should work on a wide variety of vehicles and looked pretty inexpensive.

Guy at work had something similar - it didn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the high end stuff, but it was enough to figure out the problem on my Saturn. He had an ANCIENT yet TINY LAP TOP computer he got out of the junk sale at work - it was perfect!!!
I say go for it.
