1979 Trans Am
I've decided I don't use this car enough, and could put the money towards my Caddy rearend and some S-10 parts. Not to mention the time I spend on the Trans Am takes away from the cars I care more about. I like the T/A, and it's fun, but it seems about time to go. We'll see if I get any bites:

Re: 1979 Trans Am
I did get a call tonight from a younger guy who has had all sorts of stock firebirds and now wants one that will just go fast. He's got a guy picking up his '71 this weekend, and plans to call me back then. Seems very interested... we'll see.

Re: 1979 Trans Am
So either I'm asking too much, or craigslist isn't the way to go. I plan to put the Trans Am on ebay this weekend, but I'm going to lower the price one more time before I do that. If any Tiresmokers are interested, I would sell this car to them for $3200. This to me seems REALLY cheap, but I've had a bunch of fun, gone 12.50's and the car is still turn key and ready to drive / race.

Now it's on ebay. The reserve is $3500, but if it gets close near the end, I may lower the price. It costs about $30 for the listing, and if it sells, it will cost another $125. And if I'm real lucky, someone will HAVE to have it and buy it now. I pulled my ad down from craigslist too.

Re: 1979 Trans Am
Trans Am is SOLD!!! (I hope). Last night a guy did a buy it now on ebay. He has perfect feedback, and appears to be a Firebird dealer of some sort. Alledgedly he's sending me a business check for the whole amount and knows it needs to be cleared before I'll let the car ship. He seems legit, so let's hope it all goes down smoothly and quickly.

Re: 1979 Trans Am
NOt yet, I'm waiting for his check. He said he sent it yesterday, so I'm just waiting. His feedback is perfect and he deals in Firebirds, so I'm hoping he's legit. He knows that the car doesn't move until his check clears.
BTW Mark, I have new VentShades for your car if you're interested in them. They're still in the box and you can have them if you want to stop by sometime and pick them up.

Re: 1979 Trans Am
So after wasting two weeks, I have no check and have relisted the car without the "buy it now" on it so another deadbeat can't take it off of ebay while he tries to sell his own crap. I also blocked him from bidding again. Hopefully he doesn't have more than one ebay account. Here's the new posting:

Re: 1979 Trans Am
Hey did you figure out how to ding his feedback so he's not 100% anymore?

Re: 1979 Trans Am
Nope. He's still 100%, but he does have an unpaid buyer mark against him. Somehow that will slow his buying down, but ultimately, unless he gets a couple more, it won't slow him down much. Kind of sucks....

Re: 1979 Trans Am
So the relist only got the bids up to $2950... I sent a second chance offer to the high bidder and offered him the car at the reserve price of $3300, but he didn't take it. I have one guy near Chicago still interested. He offered me $3000 around ebay and I told him $3150... I hate to sell it that cheap.

You'll have to weigh the cost of keeping vs the discount you have to give to sell it. How much more you think you can get?
