Chris, I don't want to ruin your rationalization to buy a PS3, but I'm streaming movies from NetFlix today with my laptop using my HD TV as the display. It works great even on a 52 inch screen. I get the online service with my NetFlix subscription of mail movies.

Yeah, but a laptop for streaming and bluray player will cost more than PS3. And PS3 will be HD to TV rather than VGA. Plus it's a gaming console. Sure, it's not a great browser but good for media center too. I guess you could get a shuttle PC with bluray but maybe more than PS3 too.

I think Walt is operating on the assumption he already has a laptop but not a PS3.

What's a gaming console? :? 8) In fact, what's a PS3 and why would one need such a thing?

I will reply for Basement Paul. You need a gaming console so you play racing games when the track is rained out.

That maybe because you haven't seen/heard the newest games. They look soooo real.

I heard Gran Turismo 5 is coming out in 2010. That might be enough to get me to upgrade to PS3.

I've been waiting a long time for GT5 to come out to get the PS3. The only good thing is that the cost of the PS3 has come down already.
