Due to a K9 illness, I opted out of heading to the track.
Tori, our 3year old Collie, has ingested something, and at this time, - nothing is coming out...
She was at the Animal Emergency Clinic on Tyler Blvd, Sat thru Sunday. Two xrays show a blockage in the intestine. Colleen is taking her to our regular vet, as this is written.

Our regular vet couldn't find anything -even after 4 more xrays, with Barium introduced to her food. He then recommended a K9 gastric specialist. Colleen called the specialist,(1) and after describing her symptoms, they wanted to see her immediately. This was Wednesday, noonish. They took 6 more xrays, and saw nothing. They sent the xrays to other K9 gastric specialist out of state, and no one saw anything out of the ordinary.
So, now they want to open her up...

Tori underwent surgery Wednesday, around 4pm. They immediately found the remains of a popsicle stick that had punctured her small intestine. Why this didn't show up on over 10 xrays, in beyond me...
Recovery is going as sceduled. We're told we can take her home Sunday or Monday...

My good friend Marlena is the Office Manager there at Great Lakes Vet Specialists. Tori should be in good hands.

I'm really glad to hear she's doing fine. She's a real sweet dog. I know how attached to our animals we can get, and when one is sick, it's almost worse than a human because they can't tell you what's wrong. They just look at you like they need help....

No popsicles on xrays. That's weird.

Recovery is going well. We picked her up Saturday evening. I'll have pics of the root cause.
It's actually a coffee stirrer, and not a popsicle stick. Longer and skinner. Completely in tact, and no chew marks at all. Hummm.
