The motor works when direct power is applied, but I couldn't figure out why the controller is not turning it on. I replaced the controller with no success... so I gave up.

the problem is thethe resistor (i think it's called ) It's the thing in the heater box that wires run to and out of,one maybe two small screws hold it in.little heat coil inside 90%sure thats my final answer. 8)

It's a 'resistor block'. Normally it's ceramic, with a wire coil. I had to replace the one in the wife's mini van - $18part, but required a lot of dash disassembly to gain access.

It was 7deg the morning.... gota have heat

To continue borking up a for-sale thread...

Those cars had a switch on I think the backside of the passenger cylinder head. The idea was, it wouldn't allow the fan to work until the engine warmed up. They supposedly fail all the time. I say supposedly, because I never really got a chance to work on any of these things.

The switch can be replaced, or the faulty logic behind the idea can be fixed by hardwiring it. Cold air is better than no air when you're trying to defog a windshield.

I guess it never gets cold in Detroit, or something.

I believe this may be the problem as this system is not as simple as the little relay on the air box. I've tested all those systems to no avail. I figured there was something else, but didn't know what it was. I'll check this out this weekend.
