I'm trying to see if I can help out a co-worker of mine who has totally gotten screwed over trying to get his auto transmission rebuilt for his '99 Honda Accord 4-cyl. He was dealing with some place in Phoenix, AZ getting a rebuilt trans from them and having it installed locally (I told him this was a bad idea before he started, but..). After 2-3 failures, he is still without a car and is out a bunch of money.

Does anyone know of a *reliable* place that deals in foreign transmissions? A local AAMCO has quoted him $2300 to remove/rebuild/re-install. That seems excessive to me.

I'll talk to the guys we work with (Park Auto Clinic) and see what they can come up with. They get it done right, or know the reason why.
