KMP Wednesday Night Grudge Racing
Fun night at KMP, joined by BP and the MostMint one.
My GMC Canyon and I went 3 rounds in Truck Eliminator.
Dialed in 14.95, sadly my race was close and I turned a 14.94.
As always, KMP is a good time.

Re: KMP Wednesday Night Grudge Racing
I went out with the idea of running my best ET in the S10. With the new drag shocks and my "race wheels", I thought this would be possible with the good air that was coming. My first pass was a promising 11.31 (best was 11.27). Second pass got me there with an 11.26. Third pass was only a .32 for some reason, but I was satisfied heading into eliminations.
I wasn't sure what class to run, but after some deliberation, and $100 on the line, I decided to run Animal. Five rounds later, I was coming home with the cash and the sticker cuz apparently, they still haven't figured out that they need trophies for race day.
My worst RT was in the finals and was a .06. I had a .01 in the 3rd round that saved me when I had a little tire spin and ran flat out a .44 on a .32.
Super fun night indeed!

Managed to get the K&N kit installed into the red Caddy in order to see how much it would help
https://youtu.be/7RsibfqQB8A
The car was pretty consistent.
first time run 14.04
2nd time run 14.06 though I manually held it in 3rd since last pass it shifted right before the end of the traps. Then
last time run 14.03
Round 1 14.04 on 14.02 dial with just a touch of brakes
Round 2 14.00 on 14.01 double breakout mine was less
Round 3 13.99 on 13.97
Round 4 14.02 on 13.97 hard on the brakes about 10 MPH slower
Round 5 13.94 on 13.95 red bulb - runner up in stock class
In the final the car I was racing against was .5 faster than me and I got distracted by the bulb on the other side of the tree. I redlighted the last two time runs and really had my doubts if I would win any rounds.
The track mgt does not know how to put down glue, and can't figure out how to have trophies. I just got the trophy from May and now I'm back in the same boat. Grrr.

Re: KMP Wednesday Night Grudge Racing
Tough night for me at the track tonight.. I got there and made 1 pretty good pass. I got my timeslip, found a parking spot in the pits, and my car wouldnt restart after that. It would crank/fire/die. I had to throw in the towel and called Mason & Healy for a tow home.
Drove it there, no issues.
I made a pretty solid pass, considering the outside temp, plus I didnt really cool the car down. I went from 180 to 200 while they cleaned my lane after my burnout and with Carsten burning me down like Warren Johnston on the starting line. (ok, a lot exaggerated, but he was slow to stage IMO) But I still beat him on the tree, my lone victory for the night.

Re: KMP Wednesday Night Grudge Racing
I went there with low expectations for the management, and they were able to maintain that expectation. Not a big car count, but super slow getting in the gate and running the program. The positive is that the track was at least pretty good. My truck was consistent, but the new christmas tree and timing system threw me off a little thus leading to several close red lights including a .001 red in time runs, a .01 red, and a .007 red in eliminations. I'll just have to remember when I go back, to go and study the tree a little more as I did none of that last night.
The air wasn't good so I was running 11.8s which is to be expected. It was fun seeing some of the Wed night regulars I haven't seen since last fall, and getting to make a few passes at least.

Weather looks great for tonight. I'm heading out for the first time with Maliboost in my trailer. Hopefully I'll get more than 1 pass this time.

Either way, the trip home will be easier. And not so much conversation.
I'll be there with the Mini Pooper.

Re: KMP Wednesday Night Grudge Racing
I rode home in peace last night.
Made it out to the track for the first time with the trailer. I parked in the grass area next to the staging lanes. The problem with that, is everyone parks facing east/west, which made my awning near useless! Also, you can't put the truck tailgate down, the tongue jack is in the way. No biggie, just figuring out how everything works.
I made 3 passes, only 1 was a good one. I was in the staging lanes literally pulling onto the track, and I aborted my first run. Temp was already at 200 and looking like it was climbing. I wasn't gonna do a burnout and stage at 210+. Of course, right after I pulled off, it dropped to like 180, so not sure if I have an air pocket or maybe a sticky thermostat.. or?
On my next attempt, my burnout didnt go right, but I staged anyway, and just blew the tires off. 11.00. That was the end of time runs.
I went up for my first round elimination. I dialed 10.30, based on my 10.18 a few weeks back and thinking it was hotter. Other guy in a race Duster was dialed 11.30. He went red. I cut an .08 and went 10.22 on a 10.30. This was my only quality pass. I have good GoPro footage of me running him down, though.
2nd round elimination, i moved my dial down to 10.20. I got lined up with the dude in the silver F150, dialed 16.xx As soon as we were both staged, I got on the 2-step, and held it there for 6+ seconds before launching. I dont think that worked well -- 10.48 on a 10.20, with a terrible .29 light. I need to figure out a strategy for dealing with much slower cars like that.
All in all, a very good night! I'm gonna look for a place to race this weekend.

Re: KMP Wednesday Night Grudge Racing
The Mini got it's first drag racing action, most likely of it's life. I got two time runs in, one was a 15.44 and the next was a .32. I drew the bye run in the first round and went a 15.15 on a 15.30 dial.
so I had to dial down obviously for round two. I put a 15.10 on the window and on the brakes ran a 15.08 after knocking two mph off at the line.
For round three I dialed a 15.01. It seemed to be getting cooler and the car sat for awhile so I figured I was good. Wrong. I treed my opponent, but the car seemed to lay over a little on the big end and I was over .2 off my dial. Night over.
No big deal though, it was a fun night just hanging out and trying to go rounds. My only red light was on the bye (-.005).
