Buy on impulse; cry for years.

Posted on the Lincoln forum by a guy who bought a '48 Lincoln.

I am finding more things wrong with it and would not have purchased it if I would have looked at it better. It has some frame rot and a lot of bondo. I was 800 miles from home and walked into a garage sale and saw it in the garage. The widow told me that there was no bondo and it was a show car, but she was legally blind and maybe her deceased husband told her that. She made a price of $14k and I thought it was very good, another man standing behind me offered her $15 and she said that she already had a deal with me.

The car has no frame, its Ford's first (?) unit body. Might be easier fix if it were body on frame. Reminds me of the surprises in the Maverick but no regrets there. Just would have paid less if I knew the extent of the rust.

Lots of people do this.

Sell it fast and cut losses. Crying for years not advisable.
