Hey Perry, I'm glad your trip back went smoothly after a very rough start. I thought for a while there we would be out on a rescue mission. And we would gladly have done it. I really enjoyed our visit at Jim's house. I'm looking forward to keeping up with Belle on TireSmoke in the future.

Thanks Folks! Still waiting for that plate to arrive for Belle. I find myself thinking while driving around the last several days in "normal" cars...hmmm, this would be a pretty good place to open her up! Future video promised.

Here's a few pictures of the other Lincolns, drivers and projects. The only one easily capable of producing tire smoke is the 1970 Continental Coupe in the very unfortunate shade of green-yellow. It will be black to match the excellent leather interior, also replacing the original vinyl with one in the Cayman Grain style. Not a correct upgrade but it will look bad ass. The rebuilt 460 still has the stock D0VE heads, iron intake, and Motorcraft carb, just a little more cam than original, and runs great. I spent a few years restoring the burgundy Mark V. It has super low miles but was abandoned and stored poorly for decades. A little bit better than new now. The other drivers are almost completely original and just put a smile on my face every time. The projects remaining are a 1970/1973 Town Coupe combo (two cars into one) and a 1969 Mark III convertible conversion that needs just about everything.

Previous performance cars enjoyed over the years have included a couple big block 60's Mustangs, 66 and 81 Corvettes (owned the 66 for 20+ years, roughly 3 spent in restoration), a 69 AMX 390 GoPack car, 69 Roadrunner with a healthy 383, and 85 and 87 Buick Grand Nationals. I did quite a bit of drag racing the 87 GN. It had just simple bolt-on mods with a custom set of chips and ran high 12s on premium pump gas. I've been wanting something a little more exciting to drive, been a long time, and was actually looking around a bit at the previous generation Mustangs and thinking about a boost project. Belle is going to take care of that itch for some time now instead, at least in a straight line, plus always arriving in style

Ha! Glad you asked. Well she's gone now but this is Winnie. Was my year round daily driver for about 7 years, a 1978 Diamond Jubilee Edition Mark V. Kids drove it for a while back and forth to school in MN. Then rust took over, became a running driving parts car, then finally sold for the drivetrain to a guy building a T-bird dirt track racer.
The picture is of my son and his sweetie about to head out. They said they were excited at the time, but years later confessed it was more nervous Always made it there and back!

And hope this link works. Turn up the volume for best enjoyment. Needed to do some tree removal and Winnie was parked on the road to be out of the way when my wife asked if I was going to get the Yukon for pulling down a small but tall pine. I said Nope, Winnie is right there.

Perry, you could not been more accurate measuring the length of rope you used. The top of the tree landed right at the Lincoln hood emblem.

The Lincoln made it to the Woodward cruise this year. Perry took it and had a great time with it. Fun drive all around Detroit. His favorite driver among all his outstanding Lincolns.

You beat me to it, Jim! All Confirmed It was a great trip all around, though I learned that you need to arrive a few days early to see the older cars. By Sat night, the only official day of the event, the Ave is crowded with regular vehicles with sight seers, and the too few cool cars are mostly 2000 model year and up. Had never been to Detroit before and really enjoyed driving around and doing a little site seeing also.

I've changed just a couple details inside. Sticking with the miscellaneous F150 donated parts, I swappd out the skinny hard plastic steering wheel for a black one I found in a truck probablt 15 years ago in great shape. It was a direct swap, easy as could be, and now I have a nice thick padded "leather" wheel which I like so much more, and more fitting a performance vehicle I think. Also replaced the 1978 with 1979 full woodgrain versions of the drivers instrument panels. Subtle change but now the entire dash is a smooth blend of wood and black.

Sept 17 and 24 are the last test n tune days at the nearest 1/4 mile strip. I plan to be there with at least one camera man

Great upgrade on the steering wheel. I'm sure that makes a huge difference for any driving.
