Feel bad for the guy. It almost appears that his traction control "acted up" on him.
Don't know the guy or the car or how much he drinks, if at all.....but this is a story that probably won't have a happy ending.

"must have hit the gas a little" Why would he do that with the electronic controls going crazy and those tires in rain? It would be interesting to see what, if any, codes are stored. And what OnStar says about the immediate history.

It seems there's always a story like that when "new" cars come out. Everybody
has heard of stories of someone wrecking a brand new car. This guy won't be the
last to ruin a new Corvette. Plenty of horsepower must be kept under control
when the roads aren't dry and the car is not aimed straight down the road.
Especially if you haven't driven the car a bunch. 2000 miles is not enough to
get a good feel for what the car will do in extreme conditions. I'd blame the
driver!
