avatars?

Post by TireSmoker »

Just wondering if people are able to see the avatars. Mostmint had mentioned it. I see them, but he doesn't.

Let me know..

I tried logging out and looking - just to see if there was some setting in my account that was affecting it, but I still could not see them.

I see the avatars. I went to my profile under board preferences then there is edit display options, find Display Avatars and select Yes.

Actually, I would like to make the shot BP took of my burnout and make that picture my avatar as Mostmint hinted at. However, I was able to get it down to 80 pixels by 60 pixels, but I can not get it smaller that 11.2 kb and they are saying it must be less than 8kb.

If someone could help I would really be thankful.

I don't know if Tiresmoker went to work or some magic happened but I can see the avatars now.

It's very weird, because I'm seeing avatars inconsistently. Just keep me posted here if anyone continues to have trouble.

Also, here is a link to quick photo-resizer program that I use all the the time and is handy for making avatars.

http://www.rw-designer.com/picture-resize

For making an avatar (which for Tiresmoke.org, is 80x80 max), make a copy of the EXE called "Photoresizer80.exe", then drag your Picture.JPG file on top of it. It will generate a new file called Picture-80.jpg which will be the resized picture. The resized picture will be saved in the same folder as the original picture.

The "80" in the filename of the Photo re-sizer tells the program how many pixels wide to make the newly re-sized picture. It will alter the height as-needed to maintain aspect ratio.

I use this program with "800" (instead of 80) for most of the pics I post on tiresmoke. It dramatically cuts down the file size of the originals I take with my 8 mega-pixel camera, without a huge loss in quality. This makes uploading them *much* quicker. It's also super-simple to use. Very handy for resizing pics on craigslist ads too.

Thank you Tiresmoke for my new Avatar! I think it looks great. :)
I'll have to change it to my 4x4 truck after the first serious snow,
but it will be back in the spring.
