I was contemplating the halfshaft also. Only reason I did not mention it was BP's comment about others who had the same problem and changed everything.

So, which half shaft? My guess would be the passenger's side.

The tires are about two years old according to the date on them.

As far as which side I would try inspecting them to see if there is any play. If you can't tell then get both and change one. If it doesn't fix it you'll have to do the other one.

At two years old they are new enough I might rule out the tires. Are they Goodyear? I had a problem with an Eagle RS-A on my SS that came up right after I drag raced it the first time - it came up not round. Try this - lift the rear wheel off the ground and spin it. Maybe the tire is not round? If you can see the height of the tread changing as it spins you know it is not round. A little bit is OK. This is a long shot since changing tires did not change the speed where the problem happens.
