You did a lot of great engineering to put that package together - I hope this guy appreciates all of it.

In a strange way, I am glad to hear it is gone. Now I can stop trying to figure out if I should sell my van and get to NC for a very tempting new tow vehicle.

Tim, as far as a tow vehicle goes, I'll give you a sample of the last day's prep for her new owner.
I knew she needed a grease job, so I got to that messy job. My air powered grease gun wouldn't push grease, so I fiddled with that for about an hour before I went to my manual gun. The manual gun didn't have the rubber hose that will allow me to get to all the fittings, so I tried to swap them. Nope. All the fittings and threads didn't match. I couldn't do a thing. Another hour shot. So I moved on to fix the fog light that quit working. It turned out that the bulb was shot. Now I had to go to AutoZone to get a new bulb. Once the new bulb was in place there was some old wiring that needed attention. Done. Next to the horn which decided not to work. Found the horn relay and had to clean some corroded contacts. Done. The next day I arranged to go to Maverick's to use his grease gun. On the way, the speedo cable started to squawking.
I got the grease job finished and went home to pull the instrument panel to lube the speedo cable. Got that done and buttoned up and ran it down the road to the gas station to add some gas. Everything looked good. It was 8:30PM and the guy was going to pick it up the next day. He was very happy with everything when he left. Then he emailed me to tell me that the gas wasn't working. I think one of the push on connectors behind the instrument panel must have been loose because the gas gauge worked the night before. So he will be bringing it back for a follow on visit. It's a 41 year old truck. What can you expect. It's great, but needs much TLC.

Thanks, Walt, for that dose of reality to help ease the sting of a missed opportunity I remember the hassles of old vehicles, but I am probably foolish enough to fall for the charm again, even for a vehicle that I might need to depend on. It has been nice to watch this project evolve over the Tiresmoke years. Thanks for sharing. I officially nominate this thread for the Tiresmoke Hall of Fame.

Sorry we missed NC this fall. We made it as far as SC but turned south and west from there (currently in Texas). Maybe next fall.

I second that nomination for the "TireSmoke Hall of Fame".

Should be a shoe in for the TS Hall of Fame with 43,xxx views and counting!!!! Great project. Well done!!

He sent me these to photos yesterday.

Looks like he is trying to make it look stock, but with the 460. Looked back to page 8 and did not locate a before pic of the engine - do you have one handy?

Gotta make you feel better knowing the guy really cares about the truck. It looks great.
