I purchased the tools and half the patch panels (the big ones), now I have to go to Charlotte and get them. I'll post some pics when I can.
Also, does this work out?
3500 pound car 12 sec ET = 400HP at the wheels and about 475HP at the flywheel?

Do you mean 12.00 or just somewhere in the 12's?

The calculator I found on the web was 12.0 but I'd be happy with high 12's.

With good traction and a good stall converter 400 rear wheel HP should take you into the low 12's easy. IIRC Tiresmoker was making a little over 300 at the wheels and I am pretty sure he was running 12.80's or 90's at the time.
I would guess you have a good chance to make 11's on that HP if you can get traction.

Yep, I put down 308HP/363TQ on a Dynojet dyno within days of running 12.80s.
If you get 400HP/475TQ, I bet you'd be in the 11s, or real close if the gearing was less than ideal.

I have the engine and trans on the trailer. We are now in NC at the Lowe's Motor Speedway for work. I will be back in ATL tomorrow late. I also bought the full length under seat pan while here from National Parts Depot.
I will post some pics later this week.

Here are pics of the 455 coming off the trailer (via a brand new hoist) in GA.
You can also see the 2 15x7 rally wheels in the pic.

Nice hoist. Looks like your on your way. I'd remove the plugs, put some oil in the cylinders and turn the crank.
Can't wait to see the Olds 461 setting in the engine bay.

That motor is almost as big as the Honda hiding behind it. Big motors are cool.

Who was it that said - 'I'm tired of fighting technology, with displacement'
Well, it was our one, and only, - administrator! Who, BTW, has the best of both worlds!
As for me, I'll take carbureted displacement, over twin cammed, turbocharged, fart can equipped, sticker laden aero winged, ricer, any day.....
Bigger, really is better.
Olds 455, nice.

I'll have another turbo car again someday. It's like fake displacement.

Engine and Trans prep for test fit.

I was preparing to do a test fit of the engine/trans in the Chevelle this holiday but am now at a hold point.
The GOOD news, the engine and trans were de-greased and pressure washed.
The old power glide was removed from the chassis and is ready to go bye bye.
The BAD news, upon cleaning and painting I discovered a crack in the trans case.
It looks to go a good 50% of the way around the case.
So it looks like I have to find another trans or a good 350 case and ATTEMPT my first trans-plant.
By the way I changed my mind on the engine color as you can see.
