What's involved in weeding out the 'Member List' ??
Is this something us moderators can do?

Moderators don't have that permission, only administrators do. I haven't even looked at the memberlist in weeks and it appears to be flooded -- we have about 25-30 'legit' user accounts, and I see we have 450-500 now. If someone wants to volunteer to keep it maintained, let me know. It's pretty simple to delete people.

MAJOR UPDATE

I have added a new mod to the software called Textual Confirmation. This mod is supposed to be very effective at keeping spambots out. When new users register now, there is an additional field which will require a correct answer.
During registration, it only asks a single question, but the board software will choose from a list of questions/answers that I provide. Right now the questions are:
What automaker produces the GTO? (pontiac)
What automaker produces the Mustang? (ford)
I'm going to clean up the memberlist and we'll see how well it works.

Less than 24 hours since the updates, and 26 spambot registrations have been caught by the new mod..
I did make one mistake, tho -- johnny442's login got whacked when I cleaned up the memberlist. Sorry about that.

Hey I think there might be another problem. I just tried signing up and I do not see the question during the registration process. Then it tells me I have failed to answer the question.
I need to remember to test this stuff after changes are made.

I swear I tested this after I put it in, but I see the problem too. It's not displaying the field for the question but still expecting an answer. I'll get it fixed at some point this weekend.
No wonder the userlist hasn't grown *at all* !!
