Well..... Its now Dec 2025 and she's in storage.
Off site, commercial 10x20 at $155/month. Purty much the going rate around here. No contract, month to month.
I filled the tank, pumped the tires up to 35psi, pulled the battery. It's at home, on a tender.
Interesting thing about pulling the battery. With no power, the doors can't open. (There is a mechanical release via the trunk thou)
Soo, as long as the hood doesn't latch, the battery re-install will be rather straight forward.
At time of storage, she showed 49,556 miles. About 8k racked up in 8+ months.
Dan and I have taken two trips in this. One to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green KY.
Museum only, factory tours were not available at the time we went down.
I highly recommend this destination. We'll be back next year, with a factory tour.
She returned 30.1mpg! Also, was able to sit in rush hour traffic (Columbus) with the AC on and not get hot.
Hot idle, in gear, 32psi oil pressure and maxed out at 220deg. I will admit, when the rad fan is on, you can really hear it!
The other trip was to Love Canel NY. Sorta a spontaneous decision to head to NY. Buffalo traffic sucked!
Next summer, Dan and I are planning to take her to Virgina Beach for about a week.
I've spent about $2k in maintenance/repairs. The harmonic balancer, install labor and an alignment was the bigie at $1500
The HVAC control unit rebuild was $300.
'Stuck in park' issue. A common C6 problem. The 'park-brake' interlock fails, thus not allowing the shifter to be released from park.
I addressed this myself, took the solenoid activated locking pawl out of the equation, and replaced the cable bushings, a freebee from GMJohnny. Thank-you sir.
Two oil and filter changes
One trans fluid and filter change
One diff oil change (with the LSD additive)
Cabin air filter
One tire rotation (tires are asymmetrical, non-directional)
I brake inspection shows pads in good condition, and it appears to still have the original rotors.
I telltale sign being the 'speed nuts' holding the rotors on, are still there!
Existing belts and hoses appear in good condition.
The quarter mile event was a bit disappointing. 13.4 at 106. The Internet says the LS2/Auto should come in at 12.9, and 108mph.
A possible issue being the transmission. On both runs, she hit the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift. Hummmmm.
As a side note, all shifting is normal under street driving.
I've been watching You Tube vids on HP tuning the 6L80. It's really interesting all the possible variables and tables that are within the TCM .
I really doubt I'll venture into this, but it is interesting, and expensive.
And..... I've been pricing out new C8s. I know......
Coupe, 2LT. With some mild options, the 'build and price' comes in around $85k MSRP.
I can only dream.
