It was a "Fun Day" at Nelson Ledges Raceway. That landscaping above was done by Mostmint
shortly after the Track Car left us on our own. I was riding with Tiresmoke and was able to
capture the moment. Nice save!

I was given access to the control tower, cool stuff.
Here is a video of the Mostmint Race Team's car in action on the front straightaway.

Here's one of my sessions in the car. Andy, you can see where I dropped the left side off exiting the carousel at 2:30.

Nice save. You still had most of the car on the track. The sounds were very similar to mine - just less of them since yours was shorter.

I haven't looked under there yet to see if I did any other damage (other than possibly the tire) in my off track experience. I can't see how yours could have hurt anything.

Is the Shoo-makka Landscaping Company one of the sponsors of this forum?
Most Mint gave a brilliant display of driveway edging at speed!!!

Over the last couple days I have made some interesting observations about the cars we did not pick:

1) The Fiero
Spoke with a west coast Fiero team and he pointed out the troubles with inexperienced drivers and the wet, he also mentioned inherent problems with the brakes (the rotors are not vented - design taken from the Citation he said). Furthermore the Fiero we looked at was one of only a few to have a best time at Nelsons over 1:40 per lap. Most were in the 1:30 range, about 20% in the sub 1:30 range. Pretty sure we saved ourselves a lot of work to bring that car up to speed.

2) The Escort
Looked at the lap times from the Charlotte race. The batmobile (Saturn SL2) turned a best lap of 1:38 and finished 14th. The Escort turned a best lap of 1:53 and finished only 18 laps - in 45th second to last.

I'd have to think the Fiero near you was hampered on lap times by the automatic, either from sub-optimal gearing with a 3-speed or a crummy torque converter, or both. And we were right to be suspicious of getting a Ford product! ;-)

Its not often when buying a used car that you have after-the-fact info to validate the decision, and its obvious we've made the right one so far. Yay us!

So when's Bridgestone Day?

The sun glare is pretty bad with this camera, but if you start watching at 6:25 you can see Joey chasing me down. I believe part of the reason he is closing so quickly is I was working the outside line on several corners as he was approaching.
