I expect the TB would be a bit faster, don't you?

No!

Tb will definitely be faster. You better get to work on that Explorer.

You might be right but maybe not. :?: TB has 35 more horses but its 500 lbs heavier. Walt, what's your rear axle ratio?

It's got a 3:42. What's the weight on your explorer?

I found a curb weight of 4417 on the 2wd TB.

4100 lbs. I found about 4600 on the TB. Guess its not that much.

Looking around on the web, it looks like the TB does have an edge. :(

Just pretend like you don't care while you quietly upgrade it to a 351. I guess you could also get one of those turbocharged engine from a new Taurus (or was it a Fusion?), or a new GT engine. Tell the wifey the old engine is worn out and needs replaced.

I could make up that 35 HP and have a weight advantage but it might start an arms race. Or tell WXO I'll meet him at the strip and show up with the Maverick. :D There has to be a way ...

I went to Dragtimes.com, looks like the Explore is the underdog.
With some Kemtucky windage, I'd say the TB would be in the very high 15's @ 88mph
and the Explore in the very low 16's @ 85mph.
The only real way is to line them up at a stop light, I mean, on a drag strip.
The TB might need the whole 1/4 mile, I've seen that Explore jump.
We'd race anything, ain't this conversation fun! :D

There's still a variable to think about. The TB comes with either a 3:42 or 4.10 rear. I've read that the ones with the 4.10 are very respectable on the street. My economy gear might not stand up to Maverick's Explorer. I might have to take it to RPM to do some tuning to even us up a bit.

I think I'm being hustled ...

Don't feel too bad, Jim. Ruby's (her name now) performance just took a hit. I put new shoes on her and went from 235-17's to 245-17's. Now I'll really need the extra zip the super-tune will provide. I've also seen some Gibson exhaust systems for the 4.2.

Got extra wheels to mount up the old tires for the new avatar? That engine has some very respectable torque!! I'd like to see the HP/torque curves.

I think that the Exploder would win in the 1/8th, but the TB would catch it by the 1/4 mile. I can't wait to find out!
