FYI...
About 3 years ago, I flipped a '94 Passat VR6. Paid $200. BP saw it when he was at Classic VW... It had 160k, and knocked when first started. Needed half-shafts too. It cleaned up real nice, and got $1700 for it. It wasn't a bad driver.
The car Dave's talking about is a southern body 89 GTI with a corrado VR6 transplanted into it. I'll give more details and will probably start a project thread when I finally get restarted on it (I have no garage right now, I live in an apartment). MKII's (1985 ~ 1992) only had 1.8L and 2.0L four bangers in them..so with a 2.8 V6, the car does O.K in the acceleration department, nothing like the cars you guys have but will still get the blood flowing.
Hahaha ..thats great! I have never seen that commercial.
UPDATE. I'm officialy moving out of the apartment (Aug is my, last month) and into a big two car garage with a small ranch house attached, in chesterland. The wrenchin will start soon!!
The bottom picture is. I don't know why the color is different in the photos . The color is Audi TT Nimbus grey (Dupont chroma base) it has a nice pearl effect that the pictures don't show.
I like the color selection. It makes the car look a lot newer than it is. What's funny is VW hasn't changed the basic style of that car since the we saw the Rabbit in the late 70's. I can't remember when the first Rabbit was made, was it '76?
