TRP outing Sunday the 23rd
I'm thinking one way or the other, I'm planning to go to the Motorheads club test n tune at TRP this Sunday. Hopefully the Caddy will be ready, but if not, I'll race the truck.
I know Camaro Bob had some interest in racing his bike against tiresmoker.
How 'bout the Rookie and the SS?

Tiresmoke was there.
What a great way to spend a delightfully sunny Sunday afternoon, at Thompson Raceway Park.
Several of the Tiresmoke bunch were there.

Tiresmoke was gettin' it on, wheels up.

After some passes down the quarter mile, there is always time for some bench racing.

Got Fuel?
I'm not really to concerned about R/Ts. Just looking to find my spot on the tree. My fuel starvation issue seems to have come under control.
Last Friday, BP and I went for a spin - literally....
The first WFO blast I did, just as I got straightened out after turning left out of the development, BP got to see first hand how annoying this little issue can be. His suggestion was to wrap the fuel line with aluminum tape. The theory being that the tape will reflect heat. How handy, as BP just happened to have a roll. I probably consumed 5+feet of this stuff, applying it, from the carb, back to the mufflers.
Well, WA LA, 5 runs, and no stumble.
BP - Does this mean I owe ya breakfast?
Run 1
R/T .489
60 footer 1.765
ET 13.322
MPH 98.172
Run 2
R/T .553
60 footer 1.787
ET 13.302
MPH 43.606 reported. Typical TRP snafu
Run 3
R/T .433
60 footer 1.746
ET 13.234
MPH 98.937
Run 4
R/T .423
60 footer 1.825 - spun
ET 13.293
MPH 99.335
Run 5
R/T .592
60 footer 1.812
ET 13.236
MPH 99.854
*Addendum*
Returning home, after the outing at TRP, I unloaded the car, and pulled it into the garage, I immediately smelled tranny fluid. I first looked under the car, but nothing. I opened the hood, and holey crap......
A 5/16 line had come off the rad, and sprayed down the whole pass side of the engine, and just made a mess. Interestingly enough, there was no trail, leading into the garage - or anything. It had to have just happened, but it sure didn't take long for the stuff to distribute itself, all over everything.
So, I pushed the car back to the driveway, and took the garden hose and sprayed down the whole engine compartment.
That's the nice thing about ATF, It cleans up nicely.
I was almost jinxed by Fred32 by making the comment that no one would be around to push the car up on the trailer after he and BP left. Had I made one more pass..... well, it wouldn't have been pretty.

Today's numbers
OK, I'll post my times, not as exciting as MarkSS327's.
Let me say that it got hotter than I would have liked, upper 70's, hot sun.
Good traction early, than began to go away.
Run 1
R/T .668
60 Foot 2.074
ET 13.657
MPH 102.539
Run 2
R/T .603
60 foot 2.092
ET 14.131 (Used Manual Shift mode)
MPH 99.874 (Won't do that again on a drag strip)
Run 3
R/T .512
60 foot 2.119
ET 13.629
MPH 102.653
Runs 1 & 3 I used "sD", that is "Sport Mode" when on a drag strip.
BP had early disappointments but things got better after each pass.
I think Tiresmoke posted a best ever time on his Yamaha.

I'm feeling left out, so here's how my runs went:
Run 1:
.631
2.172
14.92
90.58mph
The car idled a LONG time before this run, and there was some detonation so I turned the timing back about three degrees.
Run 2:
.659
2.045
14.43
93.255mph
Good traction, shifted at 5600, very slight detonation in 3rd, so I turned the timing back another three degrees.
Run 3:
.669
2.078
14.365
93.960mph
The best run of the day. Car pulled strong, no detonation, but still a tenth shy of my best run ever.
Run 4:
.690
2.101
14.404
94.372mph
Shifted at 5800 and the mph shows that wasn't a bad thing.
Not a terrible first trip with the new cam. I've since added more jetting to the secondaries and put a bigger accelerator pump on the secondaries too. I'm really starting to think that 800 cfm's are more like a restrictor plate and that I might need something quite bigger. I'm going to put a vacuum gauge on it in the next few days to test my theory. The stock carb on this car is an 850, so I'm thinking a 950 (if there is such a thing) might be the ticket. We'll know more shortly...
