Sounds good. I hope that radiator fluid in the pan there is not supposed to be in the radiator :shock:

I FINALLY DROVE IT!

This thing runs *GREAT*. It idles nice and smooth, and it seems to cruise real nice. I've only driven it a few miles, because I still don't have an air cleaner that fits. But it starts up immediately, idles smooth, 60 lbs of oil pressure, and just has real nice torque. Obviously, I haven't totally leaned on it, but from what I can tell, this thing will be pretty quick. The induction noise is great. And it is bottlenecked with a 2" exhaust. I have the 2 1/2" rams-horn manifolds ready to go, but they wouldnt bolt to this exhaust system.

I have one of those triangle Edelbrock foamy air filters if you want to use it until you get one that works.

When I bought the K&N for the Trans AM, I went to Advanced Auto and looked through their K&N book and found the filter by size and just ordered it. It's amazing how many different sizes they have. You might need to bring a metric converter (maybe on your phone). I don't think a 2" filter will be tall enough to fill out a drop base filter though...

I was talking with my dad and surprisingly, he wouldn't be opposed to a '67 big-block stinger hood. Obviously an over-expensive fix to this problem, but it could still be cool :-)

But I'm confident that either a 2" filter element or changing the intake will solve my problem. A Weiand #8121 seems to be over 1/2" lower than the Performer I have from the published specs.

WOOOOO HOOOOOO, I can finally drive this thing!! Except it's midnight, and starting to rain. But hopefully we should be good to go for our trip to the Vintage Races @ Mid-Ohio on Sunday. Didn't have my phone or a camera with me (I was doing this at dad's house) so pics will have to wait.

So I finally got to drive it around tonight and it was tooootally worth it. It runs like a champ. Idles smooth, great torque, sweet induction noise.

After leaving Fatica's house, I stopped by my friend Nick's house on Fairmount in Newbury. Nick grew up with us, and also has a *mint* '67 GTO. Took him and his 8? year old boy for a several mile loop. Fred32v had the misfortune of playing pool when I was near his house, Johnny442 didnt answer his phone, but Paul did, so I went from Chardon --> Burton --> Painesville and then made a lap through Willoughby before finally heading home.

In all, it was running for at least 3 hours, as I never shut it off. Plenty of oil pressure, temperature stays consistent, it just works as it is supposed to. Yay!

This is the first Edelbrock carb I've ever used, or maybe even driven, and I have to say I'm really pleased with it. I set the mixture screws by turning them till the RPM dropped, then backed out 1/2 turn. That's all I've done and it runs just fine. I got some freeway miles in and was surprised at just how nice it cruised between 70-80. Even with no overdrive, it doesn't feel bothered by the RPM. The rear is 3.36 and the tires are relatively short.

Looking forward to cruising this thing the rest of the year!! Who knows, maybe even a lap down the 1/4 mile in the fall.. :-)

This should be a great cruiser. Lots of happy happy miles ahead!
Let me know if you ever plan to venture to upstate NY :wink:
