Re: MKII GTI VR6
Developed a bad wheel bearing about 200miles or so after the autocross. I ordered the bearing, paid to have it pressed in. Put it back on and before I could even shift into 2nd gear the noise was still there. Long story short the hub was bad or was damaged during the press work (what I suspect). So ...

Re: Weird car shopping
Does it need to be an SUV or would a pick up with a cap be okay? An older toyota pick up could be had in the U.S. on the cheap. Plus they sold tons of those things world wide. I think there called hilux in other countries. Parts should be easy to come by down there. Aren't those the vehicle of choic...

Re: 2012 Chevelle Projects
Sounds good. Cant wait to here it in person.
Ive heated painted metal with a heat gun before tapping on it. That will help keep the paint adhered..... to a limit of course.
Keep it warm but not TO warm as you tapping on it. Had some luck with that on my VR

Re: '70 F100
Chris , in addition to the engine, transmission, all accessories, computer and wiring harnesses I'd like to get the gauge cluster, cruise control, radiator, and AC condenser. I think I'll be able to adapt the guage cluster to the F100 dash. Need to check to see if there's a seperate transmission co...

Re: 1991 MkII GTi 8v
Been a busy *few* weeks: replaced alternator with a new one new timing belt and tensioner - again wtf? Throw out bearing Trans end cap (seal) Trans fluid Passenger axle- Gambled on that one because I was hoping it was bad - not the trans. Lost on that one. The positive is- I have a spare axle...
Re: '70 F100
Yep, that would be a good one. But, given I don't know squat about computer controlled fuel and ignition it would be better to start with a matched set -- engine, transmission, PCM, harnesses, and sensors in a running vehicle. A wrecked or rusted Mark 8 or maybe a 2WD Expedition with a 5.4L would m...

Re: 1995 Volkswagen Passat
Had the axle flange seals done here http://www.germanautopros.com/ It was nice not having to do them myself  I just have to many car projects at this time. They had been bad for a little while. If anybody needs a german car worked on, I would suggest him. Cary is his name. I sold him a Audi...

Re: 2003 S-10
The fuel filter was bad on my VR.... with only 1500 miles or so??? After doing some internet searching, new(er) filters clogging is not unheard of. After replacing the filter its been okay. IIRC GM filters have a cool- and easy on off connector set-up. Hopefully its the filter and not cam sensors an...
