Re: TRP 4-17-21 New Season

I had bit of a stressful day leading up to my outing at TRP. I ended up getting there closer to 6pm which didn't give me much cool down time. I pulled into lane 8 which usually has slick tire cars and runs faster than the other lanes so I ended up getting four time runs. I was skeptical of the track...

Re: TRP 4-17-21 New Season

I'm going to head to Thompson tonight with the S10. The weather looks very favorable. Hoping for Mid-11's with the big wheels on it. We'll see if the track can hold.

Re: 1997 Pontiac Firebird

Yesterday we bought a used set of Nitto NT01 tires for the Firebird. They're 245-50-16 which is the stock size for a Trans Am of this vintage. There's actually no date on these tires, but the seller says 4-5 years old. They don't show any wear at all. We paid $320 for them and they are over $200 ea ...

Yeah buddy, it's whole again! And if you cared, a lot of that door striping would come off with rubbing compound by hand IMO. The hood fits amazingly well.

Re: 1997 Pontiac Firebird

Here's some pics from the autocross on Sunday. The TrackBird is definitely a 20 footer. In these pics it looks amazing.

Re: 2019 Mustang GT

Yeah, that is crazy! My work truck Ram even had it. I didn't go past the free period, but still there. AND for a long trip like you're planning, it would be sweet to have. Come to think of it, I don't think my new Ranger has it either.

Re: Dragway 42 Autocross 5/2/21

I spent the day at 42 and it was a pretty nice weather day. About 80 degrees, mostly sunny, and quite breezy. From what I could tell there were about 145 cars that actually ran in four groups. I was somewhere around 120 out of that group when the dust settled. Based on the class you're in, there's a...

Re: Dragway 42 Autocross 5/2/21

The Pitt Race thing we went to was just a test session and not a competition. The Lowkey Autocross they called it. Pretty fun. Maybe take the S10 to that one sometime.

Dragway 42 Autocross 5/2/21

This Sunday I'm signed up for the autocross at Dragway 42 with the Firebird. After some FB messaging with the Akron Sports Car Club rep, I've come to the harsh realization that the Firebird, because the interior is gone, is basically stuck racing against actual race cars with V8's, slicks, etc. So I...

Re: A day and a half at the track mostly in a Dodge Charger

That sounds like it was fun, and a bit stressful. That would be like doing an autocross while someone threw grenades at you! But I understand why they train you for it. Thompson eliminated the backwards race awhile ago because of legal issues I was told. Plus, I'm sure they don't want the concrete w...

Re: 2003 S-10

Less than a week later and the truck is back home and tuned. I got at text around 5pm yesterday from Trevor that he was going to finish the tuning and the truck was on the rollers right now... So I texted dad that this was happening, and I jumped in my truck to go watch. The final wheel numbers were...

I updated it, but if you have your 1/8 mile MPH, I'll put that in there too.

Re: 2019 Mustang GT

HaHa! An unexpected mess for sure. All that extra oil creates a LOT more head pressure. Plus, do you have a 10 quart pan? I know I don't. The 6-7 quart oil changes almost max me out.

Re: Quickest Cars on Tiresmoke

I just updated my Ranger on this. I did see a bunch of cars that could use updating on the list when you're bored.

Re: TRP 4-17-21 New Season

I wasn't really sure what the Ranger was good for going into today. I saw a magazine test of the exact same truck at 14.6, and I can normally best magazine times. Today was no exception. Dad and I were able to square up for the first time run. I treed him and with every shift I was able to put a lit...
