I decided to head out to TRP last night. I took the Cobalt and VeeDub showed up to spectate and take video. He had a pretty trick video camera that proved to be much more stable at high zoom than my little point-n-shoot Casio in movie-mode.

I ran a 14.06 and 14.19 in time runs. I just can't quite figure out how to get a consistent launch in this thing. I won my first round race, as the other guy ran 17.08 on a 17.10 dial in. I had missed my 2-3 shift, so if he had hit the brakes, he would've won. I lost in the 2nd round with a crappy light and slow 60-foot time (spin, then bogged) that hobbled me to a 14.40 on a 14.10 dial-in, but I at least made 2-3 that time.

My old neighbor Nick was going to be out there with his friend John. John has a '80-81 (?) Z-28 sporting a 383 with Vortec heads, Performer RPM, 750 Holley and unknown, but slightly lumpy cam. TH350 and 3.73 posi on street tires. He had never raced before, but had been out to track as a spectator. He started in the 14s, but with a little practice rolling into the throttle, managed a 13.65 @ 104 (still some wheelspin). Pretty strong car.

Nick has a super-clean '67 GTO and I've been trying to get him to take it out there, but no luck yet.

It's nice to hear you made it to the track.
13s just gota be around the corner.

Any video?

VeeDub said he had some video. I'll see if I can get it posted.
