XM Radio installed

The Silverado came w/o XM, my other ride has XM, so I wanted "Bluegrass" in my winter ride to the casinos.
I didn't want it stuck on. Enter GM Parts Direct, see
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cf ... r=12498768
Well, this kit needed to be installed. Flat rate is 1.4 hours, a pro took 3 hours his first time, well I have probably
5 hours invested, but the result was extremely satisfying when the radio came to life with the 2 XM bands.
If I could do it again I think that I could beat the 1.4 hour flat rate.

The Silverado is not any faster but now it's a whole lot more fun to be in.
I can't stop grinning. :D

And you saved a bunch of $ doing it yourself. Make sure mother knows you are saving money.

I guess we don't really have a project to do on Saturday (unless my line lock shows up). It is really sweet that it's a factory set up, and paying over $100 to do something you can do yourself is even better, especially when it actually works when you're done.

SWEET!

The question still remains...how many polka channels can you get?

Polka CDs

Unfortunately there are only a few 100 channels and no polka channel,
but I put Pecon, Fedorchak, or Tady into the CD player and I'm good to go.
Years ago there was a "Special X" channel that played polka music,
but I've looked for it and it's not available anymore, very sad.

I bet if you start sending them emails about a polka channel, that might help, especially if you're not the only guy asking about it.

Note to self: When we get to tuning this thing I must remember to switch the speed limiter source from GMLAN to calibration

Running Boards

I purchased running boards early in the spring. They were no longer available through GM Parts Direct,
but with help from Mark at Classic Chevy, a set was found at a dealership on the east coast.
I grit my teeth and said get them. Unlike other GM accessaries installs, my personal attempt to install them
did not go well. So I farmed them out. He was to paint and install them. Well, they were too long and were
going to interfere with my expensive moulded mud flaps. They were shortened two and a half inches,
then painted and FINALLY installed in September. My wife was the motivation for this modification,
and she and I are both pleased with the result.

Also replaced the OEM Goodyears with the Bridgestone H/L's. What a difference!

With the running boards, and the new OWL tires, it looks like a whole new truck. The only thing left to do will be the dual exhaust to complete the package. It looks good, and making mom like it more helps too.

The new 'boards came out great, Fred. I like the fact that they don't look like add-ons. You done good.

Those tires look great. I was wondering why you didn't install "Road Hugger Radials" instead.........

Four dollars for the stripping tape and there you are. A stripping wheel would have done a better job but.......
