Now that the 94 Roadmaster is finished, complete with a new CD deck and the 91 Olds Calais is going back
and forth to work rountinely, something else was needed to focus some attention on.
SHAZAAM!!
Look what followed Basement home (actually drove it).
Its a 1985 Pontiac Fiero GT. 2800cc v6 w/140hp and an automatic transmission.

OK, it's not a Corvette, but can it be ready for Corvette Carlisle?
Will it turn 16's? Some many questions to be answered. What do you think?

I think the same guy that went orange paint happy on my Olds Quad 4 intake got a hold of this car too.

I'm not so sure -- my recollections from the BP days is that a lot of Fieros had a red painted (powder coated?) intake from the factory.

Yes, the tiresmoker is correct, that is numbers matching paint on that intake! WOW!

Short of the crappy brake line job (bad bends, not bad pressure) the car appears to be original. Does that really matter here? I'm not sure that I care... we'll see once I give it a good shakedown. For $600, I figured I couldn't lose.

As for Carlisle, geez I never thought of taking it there with my Roadmaster being the master of the road and all... but hey, it might be a goal.

One thing is for certain -- it looks a lot cooler than your first Fiero!

It might appropriate for Corvette's at Carlisle -- it's a 2-seater with RWD. It might not be V8 powered, but Corvette's aren't mid-engine, either!

Oh and it will be great for carrying stuff too - just like a Vette

Probably won't win too many races with it at Carlisle though...

I'd say with some certainty, that it'll be faster than your Camaro once it's running correctly...

I think your Corvette would be too much though, as least as long as the road is going straight.

My Camaro is not going to Carlisle...

Heck you probably won't even have this car by then, or its successor. :P

Replacing Exhaust Header Gaskets

Purchased the GT knowing the exhaust header gaskets needed replacement. Simply remove the header bolts
and slip in the new gaskets.

There was some thought given to just installing the 1973 Cadillac 472 cu.in. motor that we have stored in the back
of the garage. Instead we opted for installing those race cylinder head gaskets with the performance exhaust header
gaskets. Fortunately this motor is very clean and will only require minimal effort to clean up.
Will it be ready for Corvette Carlisle 2007? SURE.

It Runs Again

The Fiero has begun its' resurrection. The process has involved a few Saturday
and Sunday sessions, but we fired up the 2.8 today.

Now to connect the exhaust pipes, add water, change the oil, etc., etc..
More to come when we road test it.
I have a great video of the first start, but don't know how to post it.

Sorry, no pictures, but, after this Saturday's efforts, the GT has toured the development on its' own power, purring like a kitten.
