If I know nothing about furds how do I recognize a C4? Is there an easy way to tell?

According to my resident Ford Guru, 'Scary Larry', '70 Maverick, 351w/C6/9in-3.55s, *straight axle*.....
The C6 is one piece housing with NO bolt on tail housing. And has three distinctive ribs in the casting, on top, ruining the full length of the trans. The C6 comes in three bellhouisng bolt patterns - 351w, 351m/400, 460. All C4s have a bolt on bellhousing.
