Naming your vehicle

I rarely name my vehicles.

I had a white Grand Am that BasementPaul name "whitey" and somehow it stuck.

I had a John Deere tractor I named "calcium" since it had calcium filled tires (and I had two identical tractors, so I had to name it something).

wxo has named his Jeep Nellie Belle. Anyone else name their vehicles?

I've never really been into the whole naming your vehicle thing.

I've heard Minto Pinto a lot. Any Thunder or Firebird was shortened to "the 'bird".

Any of mom's recent cars have been converted to Grand Ma from an old Grand Am logo.

But the most famous of my cars was the Deer Slayer. My first car was an '80 Mustang coupe in red, which was mashed in the first couple weeks of ownership by an 8pt buck (his rack can be seen displayed on the way to my "basement"). After dad and I bent the car back to a reasonable shape, dad painted "Deer Slayer" on the left front edge of the hood. The car was relatively legendary in Chardon High at the time.

The first vehicle I remember named was a blue Ford 4 wheel drive truck at the rental shop. We called it "the beast". And it was. No power steering on a 4-wheel drive 3/4 ton truck that was supposed to have power steering. Then they would put a plow iron on the front. The frame was from a 76 truck and they only made that steering box for one year so you couldn't find another one anywhere.

The next one was a 2-wheel drive 1 ton we named "beast 2". It was the same color blue as the first one. It had a 460 in it, but it was another oddball because it had a longer wheel base. I don't recall having a gate on that truck because we couldn't find one for that odd bed. Typical Ford crap.

They also had a dog named baseball but I guess that doesn't count because it was not a vehicle.

OK, now I have to relate this one...
My wife, Randi, likes to name her cars.
A few years ago we bought Randi a black '93 Eagle Vision TSI. One day while I had the hood up, the motor running and Randi looking over my shoulder, I casually observed that it sounded like a Singer sewing machine. To which Randi responded "I'll call her Billy Holliday (a black singer)".

Back in the early 80s.... I had an '82 Dodge PowerWagon 4x4 shortbed, with the SnowCommander package. Meyers 'ST90' (7.5 foot) plow. She was white w/tan interior. 318/auto, gears unknown. I ordered it dealer new from Glavic. At the time, I teamed up with a fellow TRW friend, who also had a Dodge PowerWagon. I think he had the 'Warlock' package. We both plowed the winters '82-'83, '83'84, and '84-'85. Before cell phones, CB radios were popular.... I feel old now..... Anyway, getting back to the name thing.... In CB lingo, my truck and I went by 'White Knight'.

Yea, it's right up there with SkidMark......
