November 20th, Dragway 42 results

Post by TireSmoker »

I went out to Dragway 42 today. Armed with my new 42 lb/hr injectors, I came hoping to find my lost ET and MPH.

The weather was perfect. Could've been a little cooler, even. I got in 11 passes, and could've easily taken more. It's the first time in a long time it's cost less than $1 per pass! ($10 entry)

I made all passes on slicks (15psi), with the exhaust closed on the first pass.

Code: Select all

 60ft 1/8mi ET / MPH

1.813 8.379 13.173 @ 102.29
1.825 8.288 12.989 @ 104.62 (open headers)
1.873 8.390 13.106 @ 104.67
1.824 8.299 13.013 @ 104.37
1.810 8.304 13.004 @ 105.11 (front tires, 42 psi, were 28 before)
1.884 8.412 13.105 @ 105.57
1.884 8.351 13.016 @ 106.11
1.836 8.278 12.949 @ 105.87
1.835 8.355 13.047 @ 105.11
1.824 8.285 12.941 @ 106.11 <-- best ET & MPH
1.855 8.363 13.058 @ 105.11
The good news is that my MPH is back. I'm also solidly back in the 12s, with a .98 and two .94s.

The first two passes I made were with the tune that Mark and I setup a couple weeks ago. I made some changes to the top rows, 95kpa and 100 kpa, from the 2900 RPM column all the way up. I also adjusted the acceleration enrichment (pump shot) and it's really responsive now. I took datalogs of the first 7-8 runs, so I have some good info to go through.

The 60-foot times are somewhat inconsistent -- 1.81 to 1.88. I'm staging at 2200-2300 on my tach, and it flashes to about 2900 off-the line. So I think I need to consider more careful tuning in that area of the map. I think the gains to be made at this point are in the mid-range -- 2400 to 3600. The eighth mile times are too inconsistent as well.

So, at the end of the year, I'm slower by a tenth versus than the Performer RPM/750 Holley from 2004. but similar MPH. But I have a setup that is both homebuilt and cutting edge, as well as more drivable. I love it.

Nice outing. Back in the 12's with plenty of tuning still to be done without using a srewdriver or wrench. Sweet! Maybe another trip in December?

Not sure about December. I'm anxious to re-do the wiring, and fix all my fuel-tank related problems (add sump/baffle. fix gas gauge, quieter mounting for fuel pump).

I made 11 passes without any serious issues (or even minor ones, really) plus the trip there and back. I might just end the season on a high note! 8)

Well, ya met your goal. 12s @ 105+.
Impressive. :) Congrats.
So, a midrange change is being addressed? And - the mph shows you don't need a larger throttle body.
