Electric Datusn

Post by markss327 »

Reference the electric Datsun...
It's a 510.
Overall, I'm impressed. The 60 footers look killer, probably in the 1.4 range.
Looks like a lot of sponsorship, and I gota wonder, what the total investment is. >$50k ???

Mid 11s at over 110mph. Woof.

This could be a start of something.

Being tiresmoke.org, I don't think the Zenn car is an appropriate post ;)

I agree with the Rookie. I'm not too keen on the Zenn - looks like a Geo Metro.

"I love my Zenn, it makes me chuckle when I drive it"

I'd laugh too if I saw you driving one.

The 11 second electric car, now that is pretty sweet.

The Tesla is also interesting but way too expensive for my blood. If the government wanted to put some money into a green auto maker this might be a place to start.

We'll see if GM is still in business, but I might consider the Volt for wife's car if they make it.

"Neighborhood Electric Vehicle" -- that sounds suspiciously close to "golf cart" to me.

No Speed

Post by markss327 »

Granted, the 40mph limit is well, limiting to its use. But I think it has its place.
Styling is simple, and IMO more appealing than the Smart Car.

Wonder what kinda mileage the Nova would get, with a 305 and a 700r4 ????
Then again, that would put me back in the 16s too. Low 16s. :)

Hmmm. Had a 305 with a 700R4 and 4.10 gear in my 78 Lemans (roughly 3400-3500 lbs) and it ran 14.54 in the 1/4. Open exhaust increases mileage :D And it had stock valves.

With the 8 pack I thnk I was making 14 mpg. With a 600 Holley methinks you could do a bit better, or maybe TPI? I can't recall the 4 bbl mileage.

I cannot wait until the first customers pony up to have us do an LSn/4L60E swap into their older car. It should be the best of both worlds, and pre-made wiring harnesses and bare-bones engine computers are available so it should be fairly simple.

The 455/700R4 Olds is still here so no word on what it gets economy wise. It does move out *very* nicely on the street, though :) Redrilling for the crossmember was the easiest part, the hard bit was adapting the TV cable (nobody seems to make one that actually fits a Holley) and the torque converter cover was hitting the flexplate thanks to the 1/2" adaptor spacer. (Not a problem for a Chevy engine)

They did a good job with that, with the camera angles and the zooming and stuff. You're right, someone put some time into that.

How many crashes does it take to make it a "bad" corner on a rally course:

My guess is that the notes for the course were wrong for that corner, and everybody was ruined by it...

from the youtube info section:

"this clip is from Finnish F-cup rallyseries, where there are no pace notes and studying the stages beforehand is not allowed. So people would get some perspective on why these guys are crashing."

I saw those notes. Wish they would have shown at least one that did make it through
