TRP Outing Sunday the 30th

Post by Basement Paul »

I have every intention of going racing again this coming Sunday. I'm thinking I'll bring the truck this time since I've done a couple things to it this year and haven't raced it yet. I do have one more thing to do to it before race day too.

Anyone else have interest?

Provided I don't get sick again, I think it'd be a great time to go. Looks to be about the same weather. Speaking of, what the heck is with the 90's today??

I guess the gates open at 9am, and not 10 like I thought last week. I'll probably try to get there by 9:30 or so.

If I'm bringing my truck, you can use my helmut. My head is about average size.

Brother vs Brother, and a Chevy vs Ford

Post by Fred32v »

Dad (fred32v) was there to document the show down at TRP. It wasn't that serious, both BasementPaul (S10 4.3 Liter v6)
and Johnny442 (307 ci v8 ) brought these rides out for the first time this year to test. Temperature lower 70's with much sun.
Not very good conditions, but a side by side run was going to happen anyway.

Preparation complete, waiting done.

Numbers speak for themselves, very very close for such different machines. BP did 15.60's later and stayed after we left,
so his numbers may have improved more.
Everyone enjoys Chevy vs Ford. As luck would have it TheRookie's SS was lined up with a big 1965 Ford Galaxy 428.

Ford was high 14's, sorry Ford, Chevy was low 14's.
Everyones numbers would have been better with cooler temperatures, but as always, playing @ TRP was great fun. :)

There was a lot of messing around with the SS trying to figure out the best way to run it. It was a brake-torque like mad in 1st then shift at 6800 and let auto tranny to the rest. I think I finally got a decent run on the last one. Only went 14.19 (best of day) @ 97MPH. I had my best 60 ft (2.1) on that one too though BP managed a slightly better one.

Looking forward to some cooler air!

I thought this was a pretty good pic of the SS.
