April '24 Nyerges Poker Invitational

Post by TireSmoker »

Chris held his monthly game last night and Team Tiresmoke was well represented. There were 2 tables, one with Fred, Andy, Gwen, and myself. Rhonda unfortunately was at the other table. Gwen was complaining about not getting any good cards, and when she finally did, guess who had better cards.. haha. She had made a straight to my full house. I also got the best of Andy when I made 2Pair to his Pair and he missed his Royal Flush draw.

With 19 players and a buy-in in the low triple-digits, there was a decent amount of money. Top six finishers were paid, and I finished a respectable third, making about 3x my money. As soon as I went out, Fred and Clay decided to chop the remaining pot, getting more than 7x their money! It should be noted Fred's stack was just a little bit bigger, technically making him the winner.

1st Fred
2nd Clay
3rd Dave

Chris runs a nice game, no confusion, straight forward.
More comfortable and relaxing then downtown.
Win or lose it's still a great fun way to spend an evening!

I was card dead most of the night, I've run good at Chris's for a while so I was probably due for that.

The royal flush draw also implies a flush draw and a straight draw. As it turns out an ace would have been enough as well. When none of that materialized on the river I couldn't put Dave on two pair and pot odds were pretty good.
