That's apparently how 6 rounds of badassery looks.

So clearly I was victorious last night. I ran Stock class with Dave and LOTS of other people. My first time run netted me an 11.63 and a .01 red light. So I dialed back my launch RPMS from about 1900 to under 1500. The truck has a soft spot in the tune there, which is good when you have red light problems, and a side effect is less chance for wheelspin. On my second and last time run, I ran an 11.69. This was then my baseline timeslip for the rest of the night.

I'm not going to go round to round, but I was on my game with my corrected launching strategy and on the brakes for every run. I was dialed .67, .66, .68 all night with a worst RT of .11 in the 2nd round, and a best of .014 in the semi's. The only round I didn't need the brakes for was in the finals when the kid in a supercharged Grand Prix put up a big red and threw away a 14.08 on a 14.07 dial. I ran an 11.66 on a .66 dial, which was pretty cool. And no bye runs either.

Just by chance Dave showed up right as I finished my first time run, and I was able to pull in right behind him in the lanes, so we were able to hang out all night.

I'll probably go out next week, but with the Ranger as I hear there's a Colorado gunning for me...

Nice!

In the old west, the Lone Ranger was bushwhacked in a Canyon.

"That's apparently how 6 rounds of badassery looks."

There's a bumper sticker in there somewhere.

Personally, I like to picture Kid Rock saying that while in his Joe Dirt character......and Camaro.

And then Brandi drives off with The Accountant.

May be getting my movies confused.

That the second trophy in two separate cars this year?

It's my 2nd trophy, but both in the S10. The other a runner up to Fred in the truck finals where I was the redlighter.

Well, I was there, but I misinterpreted the TRP FB page and thought there was no racing
and filled the Canyon with 93 octane for a big weekend at Nelson Ledges.
BP catches my error so I decided to go even thought it was a humid mid 80's and I had a full tank.
Numbers did not show any improvement from the Hutter tune. I'm blaming trouble weather and a full tank.
My best pass of the night was 15.07 @ 92,17. I survive the first two rounds and was in a tight third round
but I forgot to return the transmission back to drive after the manual burnout.

BP was there with his little black Ranger, his numbers were down.
Kevin was there and put his Fairlane into the 12's, then he went home.

I will never race with a full tank again, I will never race with a full tank again,
I will never race with a full tank again, I will never race with a full tank again,
I will never race with a full tank again, I will never race with a full tank again.

As always TRP is still great fun!

In time runs I had a 14.59 and a 14.57, so I dialed a .55 for round one. I cut an accidental .02 green and had lots of room at the other end and ran a .65 lifting and on the brakes. My 1000' time told me a would have run a .54, so that's what I dialed for the second round. It didn't matter than I ran a .57 on a .54 as I cut a -.03 Red against a terrible driver in an F150. I ended up going in too deep to try to build boost and I didn't adjust for it on the tree and I was done.
I think if I was going to race this again, I won't be so concerned about launching hard in the boost since ET doesn't matter, and it will be much easier to stage and be consistent. The truck is doing it's job, I just need to get myself acclimated to it.

Next week will most likely be the S10 back on track.

BP was there with the Little Red Truck and came early as I did.
'Smoke came later and only had one chance at a time run.

Well this week I didn’t have a full tank of fuel, actually less than ¼ tank of 93.
Temps were in the low 70's down to 62. Not wonderful but better than last week.
So many cars, Truck class had to wait for a lane. In the end there were 15 entries.
Here are my 7 passes.
Time run - low fuel, - reaction 0.1207 60ft. 2.2087 14.9060 @ 93.07
Time run - reaction 0.1427 60ft. 2.2604 14.9737 @ 92.73
Time run - reaction 0.2415 60ft. 2.2162 14.9186 @ 93.25
Round 1 - dial 14.87 - reaction 0.1856 60ft. 2.1878 14.8007 @ 89.76 - win - on the brakes - double break out
Round 2 - dial 14.78 - reaction 0.0638 60ft. 2.2802 15.0854 @ 82.41 - win - on the brakes
Round 3 - dial 14.80 - reaction 0.1945 60ft. 2.2229 14.8659 @ 93.29 - win - ran out, missed his 11.35 dial
Round 4 - dial 14.80 - reaction 0.1679 60ft. 2.2396 14.9919 @ 93.44 - win - ran out - opponent RED lite - Truck Eliminator
Truck Eliminator Trophy
Truck Eliminator Trophy
I seem to be on a roll, lucky when I need to be. This was the third win in four attempts.

As always, TRP is great fun!

Last night everything was off sync for me and resulted in another red light against a non-threatening opponent. My brain last night was telling me to take a few weeks off, but really I need to go back and regain my focus on the Xmas tree so I can get my head right. So there's a good chance I'll be back next week.

On all my runs that mattered, the truck ran 11.73. SO the truck is doing it's job.

It was fun watching dad mow down the field again. He apparently had a cheering section on the spectator's side too.

Well I wasn't going to go, but changed my mind at the last minute.
Temperature was well into the 80's, eventually cooled into the 70's late.
BP took the TrackBird looking ahead to maybe trying UMTR this Saturday.
TireSmoke joined us with his GT Mustang.
Here are my 3 passes.
Time Run - low fuel, - reaction 0.0175 60ft. 2.2325 15.1000 @ 92.17
Time run - reaction 0.242160 60ft. 2.2292 15.0897 @ 92.13
Round 1 - dial 15.30 - reaction --0.0102 RED 14.9098 @ 93.07 - loss
2 things - Red was bad, 2nd thing, I had 15.03 on the windshield not 15.30
and didn't check my dial when I staged so there was no way to win the round.

BP was making rounds in Stock Eliminator, but 'Smoke made the most rounds tonight.

As always, TRP is great fun!

I was able to get through 3 rounds of Stock in the Firebird before a bad reaction time and a double breakout did me in. The car was faster EVERY pass I made on Wed. Most of it was probably me launching the car a little harder each time resulting in my last pass of 15.30 on the brakes on a .39 dial. My first pass when I arrived was a 15.79.
The best part of the night was that I found what I believe was our annoying oil leak from the front of the engine that happens only when the car is getting abused. There was an OPEN HOLE just above the water pump that a bolt belonged in but there was none there. I'll post pics in the Projects thread.
I planned to run the car on Saturday at a stick shift race but a bum foot kept me away from that. I'm not sure I would have done that well, but my first two rounds were against other stick shift cars and I was able to beat them, so you never know. Maybe next time.

I was the most unprepared I’ve ever been for a night at the strip as Wednesday was my
first day back from vacation at work. I went to the track just like you’d see me on the
street. My first run the GMC was warm and only sat for 20 mins, temps in the low 80’s.
I ran a 15.94 @ 87.18 w/ a 2.56 60’. I left the line with a .175 reaction. The car is
so slow off the line, and won’t let you leave at over 2000 rpm. Second pass was much
better after sitting with the hood open over an hour and air temps falling, I ran a
15.34 at 91.05. I was “working on my light” and, leaving when the 2nd light came on,
I did the impossible and cut a +.0000 green. Thing were getting better! After two runs,
it was time for eliminations. I, for the first time in forever, drew the bye. Good luck for
me as I was able to wind it out after an hour and a half of sitting and air temps in the
mid-60’s, ran a 15.14 at 92.14. I was dialed at 15.30 ( what all the stuff in the internet
said it will run ) and would’ve broken out. 2nd run, BP gave me the hot tip that my
competition sleeps on the tree. I dialed 15.20 and cut a .0711 light. He ran his number,
but lived up to BP’s expectations and cut a .5215 light. I had him covered way before
the traps and got the win 8 mph lower than my best. Final round came and I had been
talking to my competition prior to the race. He showed me his slips and I figured out
that this guy was only in the finals by luck. His reaction times were all in the .6 - .8
range. I kept my dial at 15.20, and cut a .2473 light (made sure it went green). My light
didn’t matter as he cut a .6456. He was dialed at 15.60, but I caught him and had him
covered mid-track. I ran a 15.45 @ 78.27 and won by over a tenth, on the brakes and
pacing him out. He also broke out by .02. It was a night of much luck! The only thing that
would’ve made it better was if I had to run Dad in the finals, but he didn’t make it.
