TRP Sat. 10/10/20

Post by Fred32v »

TRP is open for T-N-T on Saturday from 10 until 4.

I heard the Highway Payroll MoPar will be there, not sure what time she will arrive yet.

I'll try to be there early afternoon or something, whatever.

Also TRP will be open All Saturdays as long as the weather holds out, except Saturday 10/17/20.

When it gets real cold I'll be there.

They're doing a Fall Finale the weekend of the 24th, so probably not ideal timing for doing TNT. But if the weather is good enough, I'll find out if they're just doing time runs. Going to be pretty warm this Saturday.

Is this 10/24 race event where the top 10 from the points go to National event to compete?

How many cars will be going?

No, that one is done already. It's just a chance for racers to come out and win some money one last time. So far they only have Box, No Box, motorcycle, and Jr Dragster classes. There was talk of a Street class, but haven't seen anything confirmed or denied.

I went to TRP to watch my Granddaughter Rachel wheel her big Charger (Beckett)
through the quarter for the first time.
The Mostmint one was there with his stick shift Corolla (Carol) for moral support.
Temperature was mostly 70ish, with a nice tail wind.
I made three time runs before eliminations.
.1393 lite, 2.3217 60 ft., 15.2368 @ 92.34 mph,
.2146 lite, 2.2479 60 ft., 15.0625 @ 92.48 mph, and
-.0846 lite, 2.2229 60 ft., 14.9054 @ 92.74 mph.
There are 4 Gambler categories, Box and No Box Animals $20, Stock and Bike $10.
The three of us went into Stock. I didn’t last long.
Rnd 1 dial 14.88, -2069, 2.2070 60 ft., 14.8872 @92.86 mph vs dial 13.28, .0475 lite, 13.2828 @ 103.33 Red is SO final.
Corolla only survived the 1st round. The Becket car received a bye later and found herself in the Semi, one from the money. Tight run but her opponent got the win lite.
I don’t know what her best numbers were, but it was a 13 second car in the high 90s during time runs.

As always, TRP is great fun!!!

Beckett went 13.89 first pass with me driving and Rachel passenger. Rachel then took the controls and ran 14.01, 13.98, 13.99. Then there were some passes in the 14.20's. 99 was top MPH.

She then won round 1 when the Vette she raced red lighted, drew the bye run in round 2 and lost a double breakout in round 3. It was the semifinal so they paid $20 for that.

Its a winning time slip

Carol was slower than I expected. First passes were 17.50-53 range. Then I got to speed shifting and that shaved a tenth to 17.40. Subsequent time trials were slower due to hitting the rev limiter one pass, and forgetting the speed shifting.

First round I dialed 17.40, pulled an .07 light and crushed the guy with the 12 second Mustang and an .9 light. Looking at the 1/8 mile times they were way slow so I changed the dial to 17.48.

Round 2 I was a bit slow on on the tree, lifted on the 1-2 shift, then speed shifted 2-3 and still broke out running 17.41. It was close at the end so I did not lift.

The Mustang on the left fell victim to the me and the Corolla. Not a good day when your 12 flat car goes down to a cog drive Corolla.

Upon further thought I realized this was the first time three generations of Cossick were racing in the same event.

Fact check - if anyone recalls this happening before please speak up!

While Kurt and I were racing each other heads up we did not do the gamblers race.

Will need Fred32v to confirm his presence there. It was 11/5/16 and I can't recall.

Where was Fred32v on November 5th, 2016? Not at TRP, but in the Panama Canal. :D
