Re: Nelson Ledges 11/2
With no corner workers, do you think we could convince them to let us run a couple sessions backwards? I know they've done this before, and it might be good practice getting used to different tracks.
Either way, we'll have to get to work getting the fluid flushed and cooler on the P/S. At least we have the parts.

Re: Nelson Ledges 11/2
we could probably have them run it backwards regardless of corner worker situation. It'd probably depend on who shows up and what they want to do. Later in the day could be an option when there are few cars left.
I'm thinking that track day #2 might be a bit early for that - still much more to learn on the regular direction.

Oh, I'm not even close to having anything mastered going clockwise, let alone backwards. But it still seems like it might be fun.

Would like to get the Vette in order for this. Lots to do - seems possible on paper so we will see. Otherwise could bring the Saturn to see if I can shave another second off the lap time, or benchmark the Corolla.

Ran 1:21 my first time out. Stints were limited due to power steering (250 degrees) overheating despite 30 degree air temps.
Dave, Joey and Rachel got rides in the car.
It was probably the least # of laps I've run out there in a day but very happy to have all this info to ponder over the winter.
For the record, there was a C5 and C7 out there and we passed both of them on track. I realize this is just a track day and people are on different agendas, but it's still a fun fact!

Re: Nelson Ledges 11/2
I arrived a little late but was rewarded with another ride in the TrackBird when it was in action.
Not sure about lap times, but my ride was very different and allot more aggressive then last time.
I missed my chance to ride in the Little Red Car, but I'll get it next time.
Just like TRP, Nelson Ledges is serious fun!
PS:To make the day complete, there was a get together at TireSmoke Central.
Much seriously good fun with family and friends!

Re: Nelson Ledges 11/2
I wasn't paying attention to lap times just yet. It was more about getting a rhythm and being more relaxed while driving. I think I'm getting better and more comfortable with the car. I also had a chance to ride with Joey in his 944 and also have him ride with me giving me some pointers which was very helpful.
Although it seems that the power steering overheating issue is cured, the cap still leaks but only periodically, but no pump whine after a stint. Unfortunately we still have oil appearing on the top of the water pump after any hard run. We'll need to determine where the leak is coming from. It doesn't leak under normal driving, only at the track. So maybe a bad pcv pushing out oil from under the lower intake manifold, or a crack in a valve cover? This is yet to be determined on our own as I haven't been able to find anyone online with the same symptoms.
But otherwise the car performed admirably and happily came home in the same condition it arrived.
