Mostmint Racing 2019 schedule

Post by MostMint »

2019 is going to be another interesting year.

This plan is not firm yet but here is what I have so far:

1 Corvette street test - like get this car on the road
October 2018

2 Corvette autocross and or drag racing
Dragway 42
autocross 10/21 or 10/28
* this may be optimistic

3 winter test for Corvette - possibly Roebling Road in January

4 private track day early June to test Corvette, possibly Saturn, possibly new driver training

5 Race weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Two 10 hour races on July 13 and 14
Travel 7/11 and return 7/15
Vehicle TBD

6 Race weekend at Gingerman
Two races: 8 and 7 hours
August 24-25
Vehicle TBD
* I would like this to be a new driver training race. Could possibly be John H's Neon with all new drivers
* Considering Corvette debut at the this race also.

7 Race weekend at Nelson Ledges
24 hour race
September 7-8

Anything else I should be considering?

I am excited about this opportunity! When we actually went to Michigan International Speedway in 2014 it opened my eyes to significance of racing at these top notch venues. Indy was one I thought not possible for us until now.

I'm in for Indy & Nelson Ledges.

Nelson on Sept 7/8 should be really good weather.

Indy is going to be expensive. Bottom line is $2800 for entry (about 2x normal) and we have to buy their gas. Preliminary estimates put the total cost around $6300 - which will be basically $1600 each split four ways. Plan would be a 2 hour stint for each driver each day with four extra hours to address problems or divide up as we see fit.

Supplemental rules are here: https://champcar.org/register/supplementalrules/376.pdf

We will be driving over the bricks every lap though. 8)

I spoke with a friend who drives in Champcar and he told me that all the entries have been filled for the Indy race. Do you have a slot confirmed?

New schedule:

Saturn:
Going to track day on June 10 for shakedown ahead of Indy

Indy on schedule racing on 7/13-7/14

Shakedown ahead of Nelson date TBD

Nelson Ledges Saturn on 9/7-9/8

Corvette:
First stop after successful road test is the dragstrip date TBD

Reality is will look to do a track day in October and if that fails will hit something over the winter or in early spring. Divine intervention may get us on track in August, but it still needs a roll cage and a great many other things.

No way will we get to racing. I'm penciling in PittRace in early October but that is a long shot at best. Too many moving parts

For Indy I am seeing the pit space is pretty narrow. Take a look at this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kR-I2r0yda8
Also we are going to have 3 teams per pit stall. Just an FYI - mostly it means we are going to have a hard time fitting everyone down at the pit wall.

I'll angle for a pit stall near a gate opening maybe we can put a tent right around the corner for the rest of us.
