Tiresmoke Central, construction begins!

Post by TireSmoker »

Well, after a bit of a slow start by me trying to manage a project that I didn't know how to do, I've finally gotten started on a new garage. 32x40 (1280 sq ft). Should fit 4 cars with room to work off to the side.

The floor is being poured on Monday.

That sounds like a really nice building!! Wish I had done something like that when we moved in this house. Too late now. Keep the pictures coming.

I can't tell how far it is from the house, but have you thought about a toilet? Well, fridge for the beer first, toilet second.

No toilet. Garage in back, septic in front, it would've been a bit more hassle than I wanted to deal with. There's a toilet in the house in the utility room, which is right next to the driveway. It's about 60 feet behind the house.

No bedroom either. I can't park in my bedroom, so I won't sleep in the garage. Unless it's napping on a creeper. :-)

I never wanted a bathroom that I'd have to clean. There is a pee place behind the shed but that takes care of itself.

There will definitely be a party. Worst case, we might have to wait till after the Oct Chumpcar race, though.

Are you getting a regular overhead garage door on this building? In your Facebook pics looks like a single door in the front which made me think of the typical sliding door on a barn.
[quote="Basement Paul"]Is that a mint rocketship on the hood??

No, there will be two single doors, along with a man door. For the right-side garage door, I know I gotta be careful about overhead-door-with-car-on-lift issue. A roll-up door is *not* an option -- too ugly. Barn-style sliding doors are an interesting idea, though.

Most of the time that side door will be for lawn mowers and fresh air anyway. A slider might not be bad, or a garage door track that angles toward the ceiling.

I believe that tentative party/garage warming plans call for: 1) something to be barbequed, 2) some poker (hold 'em or regular) to be played, 3) and a keg of some high end beer that I couldn't afford in college.

No word on whether or not John Lithgow has outlawed or banned dancing as of yet.

In all fairness, I can't allow my oil pan to leak on Dave's new floor until his Chevelle has leaked on it first.

Do you have a ditch that Jimmy can get stuck in?
