It looks like I won't be driving alone afterall. Camaro Bob will be riding shotgun and we plan to bring the truck in case we need to tow one of those Corvettes homes. Our departure time will be somewhere in the area of 7pm, and with my newfound removal of the speed limiter, and my high performance rubber, we should be able to make serious time.

Glad to hear Bob can make it.

having plenty of room in the truck, I suggest bringing the propane and propane accessories.

Hey Tiresmoker, don't forget the grill, so we can get our cook on. Feel free to bring grillable foods with chef Tiresmoker at the helm.

So far weather is looking iffy. I just want to go on record saying my Corvette and I are going to Carlisle rain or shine.

Tiresmoker you still plan to bring the 63 if its raining?

Anyone else thinking about changing their ride due to weather?

I'm having some issues with the car that is making me think twice about taking it, if it's going to be really wet.

The floor of the car has gotten very wet from just sitting in the rain overnight at my house. I don't know where it is leaking, either. It also leaks terrible at the top of the windshield when driving. I'm not sure I want to deal with this for 5+ hours (10+ if it rains both ways).

Also, I'm still having trouble with the low-beam headlights even after getting it fixed -- they don't work at all, although high-beams work fine. It's a wiring or switch problem, not with the headlight bulbs themselves. I am able to tilt the headlights down using the headlight motor control to not blind on-coming traffic, but I really don't want to chat with Johnny Law about it.

Is there room for me in the STS-Express if the '63 can't make it?

I am so so upset I can't make it. Our other house house is still being worked on so until it's done. I have no free time. Paying 2 mortgages sucks.

It looks like I'm not alone with vehicle troubles. My Jeep is in the shop having the rearend torn apart as I speak. My truck is having overheating problems. (It's never been tested in 100+ degree heat before). Can anyone swing by Raleigh and pick me up?

STS-Express

Post by Fred32v »

Current plans are for me to leave at noon and meet with Mostmint along the way.
I extended an invitation to Tiresmoke to ride in the STS since he doesn't want to expose his '63 to the elements.
Sure hope WXO doesn't have to hitch hike, Carlisle wouldn't be the same without that old boy.
Travelling at a modest pace, we should be arriving at the Super 8 around 5pm, just in time for dinner
and some serious bench racing. A good time to catch up. :)

What is the prognosis on getting the Jeep back by Thursday?

I WISH I could swing by Raliegh. I'll be in Snellville GA working though.

Here is a pick of the house when we got it. Foreclosure built in 1989 and NEVER maintained by the looks of it. Termite damage, fairly rough shape.

Image

new kitchen
new hardwood floors (entire first floor)
2.5 new bathrooms (cabinets, counters, fixtures, floors)
1 repainted bathroom
4 repainted bedrooms
all new switches, outlets, lights and ceiling fans entire house
landscaping front and back
22 new windows
repainted exterior
all new molding on first floor
all new interior doors and hardware
reworked fireplace - removed white tile added stone

it's close but not quite done yet.
it will be one nice 4 bedroom 3.5 bath home though

Well, what sold?
And more inquisitively, what was purchased?
