I've always been opposed to using brake or carb cleaner. I'm a starting fluid guy. Ether has
great propellant & degreases like crazy. It also leaves the work bone dry in seconds, nearly ready
for paint. The other alternative that we use at the shop would be lacquer thinner. Both of these
two options evaporate very quickly. They also both have the ability to knock you out if you sniff
too much of them. I think for anything to work well, it has to be noxious.....you just have to be
careful when you use them...
