The question is, would it make it to Cleveland on its' own or would a tow dolly and/or trailer be needed?
You know there won't be any serious rust, not like up here.
Below is a picture of it in Sept. 1997 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Autofest swap meet.
The Olds is mine and the Camaro in the background looks like the one purchased there by Mostmint
and returned to Cleveland.
Raleigh is about 10 hours away and let me recommend Randi's Bed & Breakfast as an outstanding place
for an overnight stay.
I think it would be a lot to ask of a car that's been sitting, to drive for 10 hours straight. I'd expect to have to drive a truck down there and tow dolly it back. A one way tow dolly is probably only $100-$200 rental. Or a whole trailer rental would be about $400. Another option if the car started and ran, would be to have it shipped for about $500-$600. Still a small price for a solid southern car, assuming the body isn't beat up.
I'm still very interested. I've been swamped the past few days and not watching the thread. With the price of gas these days, especially driving a truck, you'd think shipping is a pretty good route.

I hope you don't lose the desire. Now is a tough time with the little one and all.
Let us hope the garage does not get filled up with domestic things.

I still have plans for the Avalanche. Cold Air intake, cat back exhaust maybe 1 or 2 other things. THEN I will save up for something that potentially drives already. There will be no more major resto's. They take too much time, too much money, and too many tools.
Two guys, Tiresmokers pickup, a weekend, a one way tow dolly rental, heck, why not?
$265 - fuel (600miles\17mpg*3.10gal(empty))+(600miles\12mpg*3.10gal(loaded)) think MS Excel.....
$200 - tow dolly rental
$100 - meals and misc
Spending 24+hrs with a fellow gear head, and bench racing the whole way- PRICELESS.

Ahhh...the spirit of adventure is alive and well.
I haven't heard any more about the Formula. I guess they are busy with Christmas preparations.
Maybe after the holidays....
One more thought.
How much trauma would I cause if I decided to buy the car back?
I figure you've got first dibs. But otherwise, if it runs, I'm in and consider it sold. I think I'd rather have it shipped (hence the running requirement) for about $500 than deal with the 2 days trip and expenses for around the same.
I would like to see you get something performance oriented. I have one question though: Are you going to mind putting in all the maintenance on an 18 year old car?
