Thanks. I put a price on it ($14K) that might be too high for it to sell. Won't bother me if it doesn't. Think I'll be OK if it does.Basement Paul wrote:I'm speechless. To me the driving and owning is much more fun than wrenching. I do think it's cool how nice you've made that Maverick and hopefully the next owner will really appreciate it.
Good luck!

WOW! I,ve been away from the forum for awhile, I didn't realize you were thinking of selling the maverick. WHATS WRONG WITH YOU???? We don't sell! We build more garage! We buy storage sheds! We get cargo containers! We keep EVERYTHING, and then dont have enough time to drive them all!
Keep driving it, its really become a lot better with phase 2.

I don't think it will sell but I tried. Had one response from a guy that was looking and found a Sprint and another from a guy in Texas asking for more pictures. I'll send him some in a couple of days.oldvettedad wrote:WOW! I,ve been away from the forum for awhile, I didn't realize you were thinking of selling the maverick. WHATS WRONG WITH YOU???? Lois says "No comment!!" on your advice. Are you viewing the F100 project thread? I'm pretty excited about that.

I have been following but not closely. I like your goal, but I am surprised that you undertook a project with so much rust repair. This is going to be an awesome truck. I hope it goes as you envision.Maverick wrote:I don't think it will sell but I tried. I've been busy. Went through 2 motors in the race car this season, but still 4th in points. I am reduced to trying to race my 1962 BelAir, the one with the 406 smallblock. I don't really care about the points but i do want to support our club.

Yeah, I know. Swore I wasn't going to do that again. But, you know the rust is always at least twice as bad as it looks in the beginning. The floors and inner fenders were surprises and those are almost done. Haven't touched the right inner fender but I think I'll buy a replacement since its hacked up AND has some rust.
The truck is actually very solid compared to other originals in this part of the country. One big advantage of a 35+ year old vehicle is NO NC inspections. No limits on exhaust, carb, cam, etc. But, they don't come rust free.

So, BIG cam and LOUD exhaust it is! This is my first official post with my phone. I'm in DC right now and the 4g here is awesome.

Probably more like "medium" on both with major focus on good street manners.Basement Paul wrote:So, BIG cam and LOUD exhaust it is! This is my first official post with my phone. I'm in DC right now and the 4g here is awesome.
I just bought a new phone too but all I use it for is voice. Occasionally someone sneaks a text msg in on me but I never answer them. Wouldn't know how. Probably a generational thing.

Joe Dirt is on the Maverick forum and the Car Craft article got a lot of play there when it came out. My subscription has expired so I hadn't read the article. Thanks for posting.TireSmoker wrote:Car Craft was showing some Maverick love on Facebook the past couple days..

Its fun to see a car with a lot of owner-built goodies.

Looks like I'll be saying "good-bye" to the Maverick soon. Its not prudent for me to own one hobby car while putting money into another one. I made a deal with a buyer in Texas. Next step is for the bank to send someone to take pictures, probably in the next few days.
Its a little depressing to think about selling it but it IS the right thing to do.
Maybe I'll clean it up tomorrow before the photographer shows up.

Try to make it look crappy so he won't buy and then you can keep it and drive it ALL summer long. Tell your wife you're not really sure why the guy didn't buy it...

Yeah, that's what I think a lot of guys do when I see the prices they put on their cars. "Sorry, Honey, but I'm not going to GIVE it away".
I really should sell it. So far, the transaction is going like clockwork.

Re: 1972 Maverick Sprint - Phase 2
The guy hired by the Texas bank that is doing the loan came by today to take pictures, check the title, and ask a bunch of questions. No problems. I expect the car is sold.
I talked to the buyer again today. He's a Maverick fan. Has a '73 in the garage and a couple of parts cars. He and his wife are both very excited about the Sprint. She has a spot prepared in the garage and has read and printed out the project threads. Not many buyers know as much about their new car as this couple does.
Maybe one or both will chime in if they're still reading this thread.
