White Shoe Polish.

Post by markss327 »

It was an impromptu decision, to take my son, and my Impala, to Thompson last evening. This would be my first return visit, in three years.
I was amassed on how quickly, I was able to find a 3yr old bottle of white shoe polish. As it turns out, about 90 seconds. Left tool box, top left-hand drawer.
As it was, we got a late start. My GPS said it would take an hour and 10 minutes, from Twinsburg. I thought, no way.... we're closer than that.
422 East, to 44 North, to 322 East, to 528 North.... it took over an hour.

We got there, just in time to see the closing of time runs. I was out of luck. As it was, I has to turn in my card, to the timing tower, myself.
So, what do I dial???

2005 Impala, 3.4, with 122k on the clock.

17.8  was laid on the glass. What the heck, what's the worst that could happen? I red light, or go under.
First round was a double breakout. She ran 17.65. But my opponent, went under by less. I was out.
It only took about an hour to run all the classes to the finals, and they called for time runs again.

She went 17.802. 8)

I'm back. Going to try to make TRP twice a month. Wednesdays only for now.

It was crazy hot yesterday. A cool day would get you into the 30's easily, maybe better. How'd your kid like it? I assume he was in the car with you (another .1)?

Crazy hot is right. Jim announced they set a record high, at 95deg, at 4pm.
Dan weighs in at 110lbs, and yes, that's probably an easy .1.

No passengers during eliminations. Dan was bummed. He did ride along on the time run.

I was car 58, and the last ticket. What does that tell ya.

BTW, my first (eliminations) RT was .58  , on the tiem run, .21. It's a slug off the line. 60foot 2.6.
The 1-2 shift is at 50mph, which is like half track.....she goes thru, in second.

You and VeeDub probably missed each other. He got there early, but left just after time runs were done.

Glad to hear you'll be making the journey. I'll look forward to seeing you out there.

First upgrade will be gage cluster, with a tach.

Gauge cluster would be a good start. Yep, I hate red too.
Your best 60 ft., 1/8th and mph might be fun to see.

I'm wondering why you don't buy your mom's car?

I just can't bring myself to own a Buick. Mostly, an image thing.
It is a better car than my Imp, but after driving the Buick, and I get back in the Imp, I just like my car better.
Both are geared for the Interstate. The Buick has the 3.8, vs my 3.4. The Buick has more whistles and bells. I've given it some thought, but unless the Imp does something bad... major mechanical failure, the Buick remains for sale.

You know that Buick will run almost 16 flat... that's a pretty big performance gain from your mom's car.

Hummmm.
16 ohs you say.
If I still have it, I'll bring it to TRP on the 11th.
I'm thinking more like high 16s.

Gona bring the S10?
