United Manual Transmission Racers (U.M.T.S.)
I picked up a flyer for these folks at Rick's Garage. For you stick shift guys, this might be something you would be interested in. They have a pretty good web site "http://www.umtrdragrace.com". Check out the Northern Division schedule. Familiar drag strips.
Have you ever heard this line - "Real race cars, have three pedals"?
My thoughts - for the street, a stick is cool, but for consistency, and ease of operation down the track, I'll take an automatic.
Not to contradict myself, If I EVER make it to Carlisle, a clutch pedal assembly (small brake clutch pedal) for the Nova, would be on my hunt list. You know, just to have around.

There is no such organization for automatic transmissions?
This is because it is harder to win with the stick, and these guys like bangin gears and zoomin. If they race each other at least they know one of the stick shift cars will win.
I am not saying you can't win with a stick - it is just harder.
