How many cars have I had??

WHat else?
Did not realize WXO had some many different Corvettes. We should count motorcycles and maybe bigger tractors.

Re: WHat else?
Thanks wxo - we should have some fun talking about all this at Carlisle
1. Had a 36" Craftsman riding tractor that my Grandfather pieced together with an 8HP Briggs out of something else. It was a pull start. Scavenged some parts from another Craftsman at the rental shop to keep it going. This would pull the front wheels if you dropped the clutch IIRC
2. John Deere 210 - 1979 model (still own) this one has 80+ hours on the rebuilt 10 HP Kohler. I found the best factory cylinder head for it and ported the intake port. There is a bigger carb that will bolt on (off the 16 HP) but have not found one yet.
3. John Deere 210 - 1972 model (still own)
4. Bought a 42" Cub Cadet at an auction. Sold it for what I had in it. It had more HP but was not as fast as the Deere. When you have a big yard, you want to mow as fast as you can. I should probably go zero-turn-radius.
Parts are readliy available for the Deere tractors so I plan to have them a while.
Tractors is a much shorter list.Fred32v wrote:Did not realize WXO had some many different Corvettes. We should count motorcycles and maybe bigger tractors.

My list updated to 35. Here's the newest addition. It's a 1999 LeSabre with 120k. I bought it from 442.
What's funny is that I sold him the car when I was at the dealership.
The car has the series II 3800 (205hp/230lb ft) and runs pretty well.
It should save me a few buck on fuel and it runs pretty strong too. The gearing is horrible though as it goes 50 mph in 1st.
I'm guessing it to be in the mid to low 16's somewhere. It weighs in just under 3500lbs.

I've been looking for a couple weeks for a rear drive Cougar with a 4.6 V8, but was really waiting to sell the LeSabre before I made a serious move so I didn't have extra cars laying around. After selling the Buick, and looking at many a Cougar on line, one of which I had agreed to a price with a dealer on, I thought I'd check out the T-birds of the same vintage and found a '94 listed at the local Mitsubishi dealer on line.
This is a '94 Thunderbird with 69k on the clock and was more solid than any Cougar I'd looked at for more money. Not to mention, it had all the options including leather, sunroof, digital climate control (working A/c), and power driver seat. Another cool feature is the remote starter and it came with two remotes. The body is very solid with four good tires. It's missing one wheel center, and the front bumper cover needs a paint job, but all in all this was a great deal for $2000 out the door, from a dealer.
The car also has had Ziebart rustproofing done, which probably helps explain it's clean body. I will post some pictures in the next day or so, probably after racing tomorrow.

This is somewhat embarassing...
I know not only the cars I've had but the amount I've driven them.
1995: 1972 Ford Thunderbird ($1200), 27,000 miles
1996: 1988 Subaru GL Wagon ($650), 27,000 miles
1996: 1985 Isuzu Impulse Turbo ($100, + many futile thousands), 18 miles
1997: 1985 Subaru RX Turbo ($1100), 5 miles (5 hour ownership, "runs mint" =/ "overheats and has no oil pressure")
1998: 1976 Ford Thunderbird, ($200 + hubcaps), 4,000 miles
1998: 1987 Mazda RX-7 ($750), 3 feet +- a few inches
1998: 1980 Mazda RX-7 ($750), 42,000 miles
2002: 1985 Mazda RX-7 ($400), 65,000 miles
2005: 1990 Nissan Sentra ($125), 35,000 miles (sold for $400!)
2006: 1989 VW Golf ($600), 55,000 miles and counting
2007: 1984 Mazda RX-7 ($450 + $200 transport, my half), 13,000 miles and counting
What is interesting is that, save the first T-bird and the VW, all of the cars have been white, or silver, or black.
The silver cars ('85 Mazda, '76 T-bird, '88 Subaru) tended to have a lot of electrical problems but ran like anvils.
The black cars (Isuzu, '84 Mazda) rarely run. The Isuzu suffered chronic and terminal head gasket issues and turned me off of piston engines in general and turbocharging in particular. (I owned it up until 1999) The Mazda has had four engines in it while I have had it; the original one blew a month after I put the car on the road, the replacement engine I put in (in 2008) blew a couple months after I got the EFI sorted out, the one after that was dreadful to live with, and the current one has seen 8,000 miles since installation this summer, mainly in driving to and from races...
It's been a couple years, it may be time to buy another car.
edit:
2009: VW Quantum Syncro Wagon ($800), 180 miles and counting
Oops, I have did it again...
