Haven't posted here in awhile. The Raptor was solid this season, but the last couple races were showing some clutch problems shifting through the gears under power at the dirt races. I really had to granny shift, which is not conducive to winning or good ETs. At least I'm hoping it's the clutch... So I have new clutch guts on the way that should be a mild upgrade to the 20year old stock one in there. And since I like going faster, I ordered a Stage 2 HotCams cam and valve spring kit for it too. I'm hoping this should be good for maybe 4-5HP over stock, which is not insignificant. Hopefully take advantage of the good exhaust I already have.
And if that all goes according to plan, I will be doing something about extending the swingarm. Either making this one longer or buying an aftermarket. I'm shooting for a +4" longer arm, which should really let me launch this thing.

About a week ago I got the Raptor back from Camaro Bob who did the cam swap and clutch install. I have not ridden it as the roads are covered in salt and the yard is covered in snow. The carb will need to be retuned, which I will do when it warms up some. As of right now it's sitting on the trailer in my heated storage unit. I may order a swing arm in the next few weeks and bring it back home to do that install in a couple months. I heard it run, and it doesn't sound much different than it did when it was stock, but I expect once the RPMs come up, it will be noticeable.

The jetting eventually got done, and a mild update to the air intake where there is a mildly restrictive piece that is removable, and is now removed. The Raptor finally made it's way to the dirt last Friday with the Vette. Again the track was a little slippery, but was able to knock .04 off my best 200' ET on a much worse track getting it down to a 4.25. With better air and a better track, there should be a tenth or maybe a bit more there. I didn't win any classes but got runner up in two of the four classes I entered. I'll take it. I just like to race it so I get into a bunch of classes just so I can make more passes. Entry fees into all the quad and Vette classes cost me $60 and I cashed out $120 at the end of the night. Better than most racers, so that's just icing on the cake.
I only see one more race on Friday Aug 28 in Sandusky County that I plan to hit. Hopefully it's 200' and the track is good. If it's only 150', I'll likely be done racing for the year in the dirt as all the other races are 2.5+ hours away and that gets to be pretty late nights for my old ass.
